Now I think I said somewhere that someone in our camp usually strikes early. I think I'll make this a Charlie Lamb type thread. Consider me his pupil.
Ok, heres a hint. The choices are from left to right:
missingimpossible(mike p), forestcreature(Rob), Me(Mike) and Longbowben(Ben). Who struck gold first?
Ok. One more picture to get your blood flowing and then I'm going to bed. And blood flowing it is. Working midnight is a killer especially after hunting all morning too. Here you go:
Hmmm. Where did I see these pics before. :bigsmyl:
Did the MOAB strike first, or was it the Morrison. Maybe it was one of the two Whispersticks. Wonder who shoots Snuffers?
I guess I shouldn't answer as I recognize the arrow
No cheating Ted.
Charlie, how am I doing?
Good night all, see ya soon.
i'll bet on ben or maybe mike heck i don't know good job guys way to go i'll stay posted for the story
Im guessing it's you. Only carbons in the above pic...Congrats.
good call jamie!! ya beat me to it! i see mike is the only one in the pic shootin black carbons!!
ok, enough with the teasin!! out with the story!!
gaff
Oh very good grasshopper. Keep it coming.
Here we go! Looks like Rob only has 2 arrows in his quiver?? But, your the only one with carbons! Either way let get on with it! :campfire:
I like the way that arrow looks. Sure with one of mine had that color of crimson on it. :campfire:
I'll add one to the mix I think I need a nap too. Charlie, are we doing fine?:
That photo is deceiving! I thought I was looking a a 2" wide snuffer, before I realized it was in front of the deer! Great job to the mystery killer.
It's always tease, tease, tease!
Congrats on the meat!
OK.............I work nights too, and I'm up and awake now; how much sleeep do you guys need??!!! :bigsmyl:
I'm guessing it's "leatherneck" due to the carbon arrows; however: "Missingimpossible" doesn't have his bow,so this could be a trick question :banghead:
Wake up and fill us in!! :coffee:
Boy that snuffer looks great. :D
But thats the funny thing we all use snuffers.

Keep in mind missingimpossible doesn't have a bow in the pic, so he's a possibility.
my guess for no particular reason would be....forestcreature??? cant wait to see pics!
MY CLOTHES ARE GOING OUT OF STYLE!!!waiting is killing me LOLOL... :bigsmyl: :goldtooth:
dont think its leatherneck...watch is on the wrong hand. you are right about the carbons..looks like forestcreature is shooting wood. guy on left is one big dude and hands in pic dont look big enough. new guess is longbowben??
Same watch. :D
you are right....and leatherneck has the black carbons unlike longbowben. new and final guess, leatherneck!?
Sorry, but you all are going to have to wait until leatherneck takes me out for dinner... I've been waiting on him, as well! Be back around 11. Have a great evening all!!
I'm guessing the hands in the pic holding the arrow are longbowben's-----he's left-handed and we lefty's usually wear our watches on our right wrist..........doesn't make him the shooter though......
I'm still saying it's leatherneck.
Good eye Ben.The beast will be comming soon!!!
Perhaps it's a road kill which happened to have an arrow in it.
Leatherneck is trying to come up with a legit story which would obviously explain what's taking so long.
Great suspense!!! I the little guy in front of forestcreature struck 1st blood. The watch on the hand is from dad teaching how to field dress a deer.
Ok I give up more please. Great thread! :clapper:
Charlie
The Butler did it! You ain't a foolin' me none!! :clapper: :clapper:
Interesting. Different watch for Mike than in the first picture, but same arrows?
No watch for Rob or Mike P.
longbowben shoots snuffers and I can't see his right wrist. If I could just see a little more of the left hand for the wedding ring. Going with Ben on this one.
Does anyone know if blood stains clothes or snuffers :bigsmyl:
OK. Mommas fed, the dogs got to go out and pee, and the kids are in bed. Now where were we? :saywhat:
Oh something happened today. Ok, here goes:
We have this stand in a pine thicket a couple hundred yards from a corn field. This past summer we added another one acrossed from the original one so we could hunt the site in a south east wind. Well this morning we had a se wind. Myself and ben talked last night about the rain storm coming in and decided that we should have good deer movement before the storm. Now I had to work midnight last night and at 0530 I rushed to get to the farm. Ben met me at the cabin and after spraying down real good and changing we were off to our stands......I was headed to the new one in the pines. ;)
:campfire: :coffee: I really like the way this is shaping up!
I see some of you payed close attention to detail on the previous pics. But KentuckyTJ payed the closest. "Patience grasshopper, patience".
So I climb into my pine tree and was doing everything I could to stay awake. Sitting in the dark without a sound after working midnight is quite peaceful. Something broke the peacefullness and it wasn't a deer. A skunk let me know he was in the area. :scared:
Now wide awake and light slowly coming on I hear a limb brake from the direction of the corn. Still fighting to see anything I finally catch a glimpse of a deer about 20 yards away. Then another popped into view. As they walked by I could tell it was 2 does going to bed. Now it finally hit 0700 and I'm starting to see a touch better. Thank god cause here comes another deer. As the deer gets closer I notice a rack. As he gets to 10 yards i can see he's a decent buck but not really what I wanted. He then looks back over his shoulder.......
Coming behind him was another deer. As he got closer I could see he had a rack as well. But his was much bigger. He closed the distance fast until he was about 12 yards in front of me. (now in front of me slightly to my right is a big pine. I have a shooting lane to the right of it) I could see he had a really good rack but I could not make out the number of tines. As I struggled to look this buck over he left my front lane and headed to my shooting lane just right of the pine. I had to decide real quick if he was a buck to end my season. You see here in Ohio we get only one buck a year. So to tag out 6 days into the season is a tough decision to make.
Wake up. I think you just dozed off.
Its not that tough of a decision. :knothead:
Maybe the good lord decided to help me out a bit because before he came out from behind that tree I could swear things became alot clearer. I immediately went to work for the shot. I struggled to find a spot due to the lack of light and had this buck at 12 yards at a hard quartering away. As I focused behind his rib cage, due to the quarter shot, I had about 3 seconds before he would be out of my lane. My eyes finally focused. My Morrison drew smooth to my anchor and as I found the last rib I released.
I'm still a little groggy pdk25. Plus I'm a slow typer.
The arrow hit with a hard thud and the bucks butt end rose in the air. All good signs I was thinking as the buck ran off. I had no clue where the arrow hit but I felt everything went right. I sat in my stand to collect myself and to calm my right leg down. You see whenever I get excited my right leg likes to jump around a bit. I always said that when that stops, then I stop hunting.
So I decided to climb down to see if my arrow was on the ground. I decended my tree and walked over to the spot where the buck had stood. As I looked around I found no arrow. I figured this because if my arrow was true, it would have basically went up into the deer. I shot for the last rib hoping the arrow would end up in the briskett area. I decided to let Ben hunt a while so I went back up my tree to collect my thoughts. My morning only got better.....
As I sat there in my stand collecting my thoughts several more deer decided to come down the trail. A nice 8 pointer, then another, then a 4 pointer. A few does also made the trek in front of my stand. I decided to stay until 0830 then go and get Ben. Well at 5 till 8 I caught a glimpse of a buck coming down the trail. And he's a good one! As the 140" ten pointer stopped in front of me at 10 yards, looking the other way all I could think of was I sure hope I made a good shot on that other buck. I just wished I had my camera out to get a photo of him.
Dont worry will get picks of him later, hopefully with me. :)
As the buck left me I waited 15 minutes and the black clouds began to roll in. I decided it was time to get Ben and go after this deer.
We have a rule that unless your alone and you absolutely have to, you must track with the gang.
So me and Ben make it back to my stand at 0900 and guess what, mother nature decided that I needed a shower after all. The rain cut loose. So without blood to follow we needed to do a grid search. We went about 250 yards out the ridge and no sign. We then decided to double back on the side of the hill where all the big boulders are. This is where a buck of mine died before. Now my heart is starting to sink the longer this played out. It's pouring down rain, we're soaked to the bone, and no deer. I was about 120 yards from my stand when I noticed a different color boulder about 50 yards in from of me in some logs. As I got closer I said thats no boulder, it's my deer!!!! And this is what I found.

Not a very old deer maybe 3 1/2. But to me he's a good one. He's got 11 points and a very unique rack. Heres another:
We took some more photos on a hump that was pretty cool.
And one more of me and Ben. I couldn't have gotten him out without him. Thanks bro.
Now that's a nice one. Worth the wait, but I'm stilled p***ed off about the watch. LOL.
Congrats glad to help. :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
I want to thank everyone for coming along on my hunt with me. I hope you enjoyed the fun me and Ben had in putting this together. Hopefully this will get everyone pumped up to get hunting. (As if you all needed that). Thanks again and good luck to all.
Now I become the camp cook. Tough job but someones got to do it.
Congrats bud you deserve that great buck. Thats proof that hard work pays off. He will like good on the wall next to the other big guys  We know who will be doing the cooking in camp now :notworthy:
pdk25 we did that to mess everyone up.We couldnt stop laughing as we took these photos.
The watch was Bens hand. We threw that in to throw everyone off.
The wife said I have to shave the beard now. I told her I only had it 6 days.
That's alright. In 4 hours I'm gonna go out and try to find one something like that myself. Nice job guys.
Great story and most of all great buck.

Low light does a funny thing to a mans eyes. I almost let him walk. :banghead: What a fool I would have been.
Awesome thread and critter Mike. I read the first couple pages and then just now finished the rest. TTT for anyone that has missed this one.
