I have been playing with carbons and want to shoot LW feathers. I have some of the screw in adapters, but am having trouble keeping the heads tight and on my lighter heads the adapter makes them too heavy. It looks like I could get the glue in/on in the same weight as the regular insert. Which is better? Are the glue in/on good to use?....Thanks Roy
I've been using glue-in/glue-on adapters for over a decade and absolutely love them. They used to be made by a company called Flightmate, which is why they are commonly referred to as Flightmate adapters. They're straight, incredibly strong, and work very well.
for the screw in's try useing some lok-tight or tape on the threads to hold it better. I now use wood arrows so I don't have that problem anymore. I have also never heard anything bad about the glue in/on's at all since coming here to tradgang.
Just put some wax on your threads.
As Jason said, the glue on adaptors work fine. I like the screw in myself, for the convenience of changing heads in the field. Both work very well for sure.

That's the answer for the unscrewing problem. I used gi/go for a long time and like them muchly. Recently I went to a regular gi insert and a steel screw-in adapter for my glue-on heads. I like the versatility of this setup since head swaps are easier. I can do more things with less arrows.
You mentioned being too heavy with the other adapters; that's what I was looking for. Ended up with a 647gr arrow shooting 56lbs.
Thanks folks. I'm going to give the gluein/glueons a try. I just wanted to make sure they were good....Roy
