Are deer alarmed by the aroma of green or normal breakfast tea? In the cool mornings I would love to have some hot tea to wake and warm me up but don't want to risk lowering my chances of seeing a deer
Don't know. Tea doesn't have much smell to it, esp. green tea. They definitely smell coffee even if in a travel mug. The crazy part is I've hunted with people who smoke while hunting and still bag deer. I think if you are downwind, you can get away with most anything, but the downwind guys won't show up for sure. You would have to beware of currents, however, if you were on a slope, since as the air warms it would carry the smell up to the ridge.

Unless someone else who drinks green tea has chased or hunted them, I don't think they'd associate it with danger. I think it's a learned fear.
Now, someone will come back and say then why does a yearling snort when it first smells man. They learn from mama!
"It doesn't smell like a human!" Got a friend who would say that as he put on his Brute deodorant. He quit worrying about trying the scent free route. Frankly, I hardly ever met a guy who could consistently go to state after state, hunt public ground, and regularly take book deer- and BIG ones. I have plenty of pics here with him in his military BDUs, and a blue/gold sweatshirt with UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN across the chest. He said deer could not read either! He continues to amaze me. . . Some on this site would know his name if I mentioned it. He is originally from SE MI area.
I am not sure I would worry about tea!
My theory and it is just that, but natural things or more specifically those things that grow in nature, probably cause a deer little concern.. I am sure a lot of weeds etc, have similar smell to your tea.. Onions, garlic, herbs and tobacco would be in that class too.
Things that "Stink" to us, don't necessarily cause a deer much concern.
The movement necessary to drink your tea will probably be a bigger problem.
I would also consider the fact that you'll have to empty your bladder soon after!

I've been hunting the PA early doe season here for the last two weeks. Before and after work. I won't lie, I do shower when possible in scent free stuff, and wash my clothes in scent free stuff. I have had a total of 9 deer 15 to 20 yards, and two within 8 yards already. (missed twice.... argh...)
I drink coffee on my way in, have a chew while on stand after the "peak hours" are a thing of the past. I religiously check the wind direction before heading a field, and reference to my aerial maps... Keep the wind in your face, and your shooting lanes in front of you, and you can smoke cigarrettes on stand if you like...
