I just wanted to keep everyone updated on the ordering and publication of our new books. Back in August we offered everyone lowered rates for pre-publication prices by October 1st. We received a ton of verbal requests for orders but the REASON for the reduced rates was to help pay for the huge production costs of printing thousands of books. For all those guys who have requested orders but haven't sent payment yet, please send your monies to confirm your requests. Don't forget each book must be ordered separately. Send orders for "Once Upon A Tine" to:
Barry Wensel
22730- 210th St.
Keosauqua, Iowa 52565
and orders for "Buckskin and Bone" to:
Gene Wensel
P.O. Box 234
Libertyville, Iowa 52567
Pre-publication costs for regular editions are $25. plus $7. S&H and 100 personalized/signed, serial numbered, embossed Limited Editions for $50. plus $7. S&H.
There are still a few Limited Editions left of both books but there will be multiple Limited Editions available in another week or so if not paid for as stated. I also need to update everyone on the printing problems. Gene's book is due off the press in late October. BUT mine, because it's pushing 400 pages and the volume of photos, has maxed out the software program and had to be entirely re-edited/formatted and now scheduled for delivery in late November. Looking on the bright side maybe this will make it easier for everyone to afford both new books. At any rate, thanks to all for your considerations and here's wishing everyone a successful, safe season. BW
I just PM'd Gene. I ordered a regular copy in early August. I want to "upgrade" my copy of Buckskin & Bone, please save a Limited Edition copy for me.
I am mailing the upgrade money today.

I cant wait to see both books!! I am really looking forward to these!!
400 pages!!!! That's gonna be a lot of trips to the bathroom to get that thing read........
Naw Biggie......Just 2 or 3 for you!!!!!!
400 pages! What are you thinking Barry. Gene would have gotten three books out of that.8^)
I don't know about Barry, but I have several dozen limited editions on hold unpaid for.
Gene: You have Steve O's. #001? You could scratch out the "O" and add an "H" real easily!
Mailed mine today.
Sent both checks a couple days ago. Sorry I took so long.
Have they showed up yet?
Got your check today Dave. Thanks.
Me too Dave. Got you covered. Hope you got some good arrows out of the deal too! :^) You guys are great. BW
Both books will surely be worth the wait and the money. I recently saw a copy of "Hunting Rutting Whitetails" for nearly $200 for sale. If I did not already own it...I would have gladly paid it.
Hah!
He's only got a few more #1's left...
I am really looking forward to seeing the finished products; they are going to be first class!
They tried to give me number 1's but I told 'em let old Steve-o have em. I got his osceola hunt last year :-)
I sent my paid orders back in August....thanks for the update Barry. I was wondering, especially after seeing recent "ads".
I am really looking forward to both books in limited editions. The articles in the lastest issue of Professional Bowhunter Magazine by Barry and Gene were very intertaining and informative. I can hardly wait for the first book to arrive.
How's the publishing coming along?
I would guess both books (Limited Editions) will go out at the same time (late November) to help with shipping cost?
God Bless,
David B.
Boof,
The two books are totally different transactions, the reason for separate payments with separate shipping costs. Gene will send his sometime in the near future. With the rut on I would not expect to see his book shipped until it is finished or he posts a picture if a buck. Barry has posted in a couple of places that he will mail his book when the publisher works out some publishing issues; probably late December or January.
I got my copy of Buckskin and Bone yesterday (11/16). Talked to Gene, I know a bunch went out in the mail recently. They had some lousy weather days and so Gene did a day or two's worth of mailing.
Trying to pace myself with the book, but excellent so far... :)
Gene has received his books and started his mailings. Mine, I'm sorry to say, is a different story. The books were supposed to come out at the same time. They ran into some major computer issues at the bookmaker when transferring software programs. "Some of the text may have been lost", therefore it needed entirely re-edited. Then, there were some distortion problems with the photos/artwork (137 photos and 26 drawings/art). They have supposedly got all the problems solved but it put me behind many weeks. I'm pretty stressed out on this whole deal as I know a pile of people ordered the book for Christmas presents, etc. As of the other day they are promising delivery to me right around New Years. But the fact is I know it won't be finished in time for Christmas. I sincerely apologize for this but it's totally out of my hands and now we're at the mercy of the publisher. Thanks to all for your patience. BW
I never would have guessed that a coloring book would be that hard to publish. :bigsmyl:

Thanks for the reply Barry,
I read your reply earlier about the trouble with the publisher. Just wondering how things were going. Sorry to read of the stress, but some things we have no control over.
I got both limited edition books as Christmas/birthday gifts as well.................
for me. :bigsmyl:
No problem on the wait, as quality takes time.
Looking forward to reading both books.

Just got mine. Look at it this way Barry, we all would have read yours first. Now we don't have to hurt Gene's feelings.
Your publisher woes reminds me of the days when we were first starting to print from electronic file many years ago. It's all old hat for us now. We are fully digital and print on demand. We know how to handle the bugaboos before they are a real problem. Printing with toner has come a long way, but it will never match litho. Too bad we're not doing the "old" lithograhic printing anymore. We could've relieved some of your stress. When you have a book that you want to last as long as the paper it's on, you want to use real ink, not toner.
