What do you think is lightest bow wt for elk? your choice?? A few years ago a women here in Washington shot a nice bull with a 46 lb recurve. Just thought what do you think is the lightest bow wt for a elk sized animal.

Shoot as much bow weight as you can.  Elk are thick animals.

I understand that I shoot 53 lb recurve and a 60 lb wheel bow. I just was wondering with people and kids and women in the woods.

Check the state laws you intend to hunt in.  Many used to be 45# min and certain arrow grain weight for big game.  Now with all the training wheels stuff, the rules have become convoluted.

For most trad archers I will still reccommend 50# + and at least 450 gr +  total arrow weight.

I would use the bow that I could shoot well and that met at least the legal min #. I would also use the heavyest arrow that flew well from that bow. And s Sharp broadhead....

CO state minimum is 35#, I like to shoot 50+, my pard in CO this year was shooting mid 40's.
