I've read the articles, watched 3Rivers videos about sharpening WW, and cannot seem to sharpen my Razorcaps. I've tried files, a DMT stone (coarse then fine), butchers steel, and a ceramic stick, and they will not shave hair...and I won't hunt without that happening. I even marked the edge with a sharpie, and took my DMT stone out of the base, and pushed it across two blades at once, back to front. The black marker was gone, but they're not any sharper. I'm about to loose what little mind I have left...
I use a two sided stone. Once I switch to the fine stone, I ease way up on the amount of pressure I use. Then I use cereal box cardboard or leather to polish em up...
Simply lay them on the stone/leather/cardboard and drag them back towards you.
Decent heads IMO. I love them.
okay, haven't tried dragging them toward me...thanks bud
Cottonmouth - I had the same problem - then took some advice that really helped. Once the black marker was gone - I eased way up on the pressure on the course side to almost just the weight of the broadhead. Then I followed up with the fine stone - very light also. When I went to the leather/cardboard I did add some pressure - but not alot... Just enough to ensure full contact with the edge.... Worked wonders
got'm ready to hunt, thanks men!
You gotta love this site!
Arkansas stone with a little corn oil,not a lot of pressure and push away from you and lighten up the pressure after every 5th swipe.and then just a few swipes on a used leather strop.Good luck
