We got close on a few, but not quite lucky enough! How bout you guys?

:campfire:
Saw lots of bucks just not the big ones.
Shot a little button buck on one of my urban properties Saturday morning. Passed on some does last night waiting to see the bucks that didn't show.
Didn't even get out yet. My son had a Cub Scout campout and a football game saturday. Planning on going saturday though.
Not yet. Check out my thread in pow wow charlie.
Got within like 8 yards of three deer no shot but I got a squirrel at like 5 yards with a magnus 1.
saw 12 on Sun. morning from my ground blind. Drew on 2 small bucks just to make sure my set up worked.
Had 4 bucks come under me on Sat. morning. 4pt, 2-6pts., and a nice 8 pt. The 8pt will be a good one in a year or two. Thje others will take a little longer. Fun morning and good to be out. Somebody usually strikes at our camp early. So stay tuned. :campfire:
Arggggg.....I haven't even got my 1st trad deer yet! It's killing me to hear you guys are able to pass on does. :help: :banghead:
Molson, where is the pic of the button buck? Let's hear a story!
Anyway, the GOSH hunt will be fun.
Good luck guys!
Got one opening day. Here's the pic...

... I posted the gory details on the Daily Hunt Stories and Pics 2009 thread (pg 13) http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=068932;p=13
7 Bucks, several does one of the bucks was a nice 8pt. with a small drop tine off the G2 about a inch long. Great to be back out, good luck to all and be safe
Not much to tell. This little guy trotted over and I slammed my upper limb into a tree branch on the shot. Guess that's what happens when you've been hunting with a 58" bow but then switch to hunting with a 64"er. The Griz 190 tipped arrow flopped on out there and hit him way back. It still buried to the fletch, cut the artery under the spine, and dropped him within 30 yds.

Congrats, Molson.

Who said anything about passing up does? LOL Haven't had one in range yet. but tomorrow is another day. :bigsmyl:
Thanks Kahn. Same to you. That's a fine doe and a fancy draggin stick!
Nothing but the best dragging stick for Jim! Good job fellas! Let's hear some more "close, but no cigar stories". Sometimes they are bettter than an actual hero story.
I got busted by a button buck while drawing on a squirrel. The squirrel was at a 3 o'clock position coming down a tree at roughtly 20 yards. It then circled counter clock-wise to my 9 o'clock. This took about a minute for him to travel to that point. I decided since he was sooooo closse I would shoot him. When I started to draw I heard a deer blow 20 yards away at the 3 o'clock position the squirrel had originally started from! As I turn to look, I see his white tail waving good bye from the exact spot I had been watching the squirrel one minute earlier. :knothead:
I think I'll try again tomorrow night.

Well - I had to find something to do with my tomahawk. :-p
Went to Gander Mountain today and got a deer cart on sale. That should make things MUCH easier.
Jsut got back from Oregon----won't hunt till next week by the time I make up for missing my Anniversary, getting my gear sorted out and washed----but look out deer-----I got an empty freezer!!
Deer where moving good this morning Leatherneck and myself passed on lots of bucks this morning, and one had leathernecks interest. ;)
Congrats to you fellas. Must get out soon.....
We had this lake effect rain all week, I don't like blood trailing in the rain. so I have been hunting foam at the Club. Improving my shooting and tuning the setup!
Well... I'm am so thrilled that I've seen numerous bucks in my three trips so far. What I am most excited is I have 2 shooters hitting the field, both 150 plus!!!!! I just have to figure how I attack that corner of the field...these two are terrific. One is guareented 150+ 8 and a great 11 with lots of trash...I know I will get one of them, maybe I should say I hope??? The greatest thing is, I live on a golf course and these deer are on the only woods in the area and I have permission to hunt it.
Hmmmmmm.... I'll be over your way tomorrow morning for a Dr appointment Dan. Maybe I should take my bow.... :D
Still nothing went out tomight and only saw boone and crocket SQUIRELLS!
I was surrounded tonight by a pair of suicidal yearlings! lol One of them came by my tree three different times! In about two months, i'll be regretting my decision to let them walk, but tonight i was content to be an observer...
Frank you're in the Urban Zone. Drop the string on one to educate the other! I'm just sayin... :archer:
Yearlings are good eating!!!!! :bigsmyl: I went out again last night and didn't see anything out at Killdeer. The dang wind changed 3 times and the deer all picked up my scent. I could hear them cirling my spot, but always just out of sight. Then....driving out I saw a really big 10 point with 3 or 4 buddies. They were all sporting decent racks! Thems the breaks I suppose! I'll be out at GOSH this weekend, so maybe I se some squirrels and deer.
-Charlie
Yes, one had my interest. I'd like to get a better look at him when I can see the antlers. It was still a little too dark to count the tines and see their length. The spread was all I could really tell and it was beyond the ears. Tine length looked good from what I could see. He'll be back. The one I'd like to see was the buck that walked through my shooting lane at 0645am. Only reason I know it was a buck was I heard his tines working some limbs. He walked by at 18 yards! :banghead: He'll be back as well.
All in all it was a good morning. Me and longbowben saw 25 between us on that ridge and that don't count the ones we ran out in the dark. Today it was 36 degrees and a perfect wind. And I'm at work! :banghead: Looks like I'll be sitting in the rain tomorrow.
Pumped out 150 shots practice...will be doing some heavy hunting the next 3 days. Got 2 150+ that are almost in the city of Medina....seen one 3 times and the 11 with trash once. I'm convinced I will get one of these?????
I will keep you abreast!
Janko,
I'll take the one you don't shoot! Deal? :knothead: You guys must be way better hunters than I. :notworthy: :notworthy:
Just messing with ya',

Patience grasshopper, patience. I don't consider myself any better a hunter then the next guy. I just know what I'm looking for and when I see it, well, lets just say the string will be a dropping. Until then I'm enjoying watching the deer mill around and feed. A doe is in the very near future though. hard to get out of my buck spots right now to go get one. In a couple weeks i'll go elsewhere and try for a skin head. Until then...............................
Oh yea, something big happened this morning. See new post: "Camp Bastard" strikes again. :p
:bigsmyl: :bigsmyl:
i attempted to go out this evening but after i realized i couldn't shoot and hold on to the tree at the same time i figured i'd be better off hunting on a less windy day.
Went out this am hoping to see one of the 2 150+ I have seen twice so far...unfortunately, it was a trip that had 4 doe's, 2 fawns and a spike. None of the doe's were in range. Did have an opportunity to move my later stand on the field that I have be seeing the 150's. I'll let it rest until Sunday eve and we will see what happens
Dan
Shot over the back of a doe last night on the way to my stand. Got there at about 10 til 4 and there were deer and turkey everywhere. Had to try to sneak the long way around to my stand when I ran into her. Snuck up on her and rushed the shot.
After that I managed to make it to about 30 yds from my stand when I spooked 5 under it. Got up in and had doe and turkey around all night. None of the does walked into my shooting lane and I didn't see a single deer with horns. No idea why the bucks aren't showing. Crazy evening though... Lots to watch.
Went out this morning and shot this old doe. Posted it up on the daily hunt thread but figured I'd add a pic here too.
Grats Molson!
Way to go Molson...nice!!!! I went out this afternoon and saw 12 4 bucks. One nice 8 at 40 yards that would have been 125. 40 yards is too much for me, I'm good to go at 25 and after that, it pretty risky. If the doe's come close I'm ready to take one...unfortunately, not close enough now.
ttt
Well this morning me and a big 10pt went round and round,Hope tomorow brings him by again. After he left me i watched him and other bucks playing in the pond. This is the second time in two days he has been in the area.
Pretty cool, hope you get a shot. I won't be back out until Wed eve.
Had a mule faced doe head on at about 10 yds thurs night but got busted by her twins that fed right under my stand. Three deer jumping and blowing and stmping all around me for about 15 min looking for me to move. They finally moved off but needless to say I didnt see anything else that night. Spent two more mornings out but nothing was moving till late afternoon/evening due to the full moon. Will be back in the tri-vally area the first week in Nov. Loooks like the deer herd in Ohio is very healthy.
Went out Tues evening, first time on this property, put out 2 stands in the summer. Saw 2 does and a heavy 8/10 couldn't tell but he was heavy and looked like 140-150...but heavy. It was getting dark...about 50 yards, no shot. I know he was a shooter. What's cool so far is I have seen 4 different bucks that are in the 130-150+ on two different properties in Median/Seville. Things are looking good...hopefully I will get a crack at one of these big boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck djanko, hope the deer gods are on your side. :bigsmyl:
Nice job Molson.
Good deal Molson!
Leatherneck,
You are the master! I see on your other thread why you were waiting!
:notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
-Charlie
I'm not real certain about master, maybe just lucky. But I'd rather be lucky than good any day. :bigsmyl:
NOW it's doe time!!!
OK Ohio guys/gals, why is this on the 2nd page? Are you all going to let 30-40 mph winds and 2" of rain stop you!!! Now get out there and kill some deer.lol
:smileystooges:
It's days like this that I'm sure glad I got my buck already. :p
My thoughts exactly! :biglaugh:
Just waiting to take my girls out to the woods. It is hard to get all of us out there during the week with so much going on(homework etc....). I am trying to find as many ways as possible to include them in my hunting adventures! They are only young once and I want to spend as much time with them as possible. :)
We'll get one sooner or later, but I could handle sooner!
-Charlie
Alright Charlie I'm bringing this back up top so you can post a pic of the deer you're gonna shoot this weekend.
Hopefully I can get across the crick tomorrow morning.
keep the stories coming
Now thats the positive attitude I've been looking for.
I see the Ioawans are starting to catch up.
I'll be out in the am again as well. The rain is suppose to be done by 3- 4 am, should be a good morning.
I might get out for a few hours this evening. There are some oaks the deer are hitting and its only a 40 min drive.
-Charlie
Hoping for better luck tomorrow; haven't been out since opening weekend, when I drowned in the morning setup, then went deer-less all evening until 10mins. past shooting light when 3 doe came right up to my ground blind while I was gathering my stuff up. No matter how hard I squinted, I couldn't see anything but silhouettes, even at 10 paces.
Still working on it, went out at half time of the OSU game. Hunting a field that I've seen 2 150+, not tonight. Saw 5 bucks and 3 bald. 2 8 were pretty nice, but 50 yards out...wouldn't have shot them if they were close. Will keep looking for the 150's. The 2 8's did some nice sparring, which was really cool!!! Going out in the am in my woods stand and see if the 150's are eating acorns. I'll keep you updated if I have any luck...it has been great so far!!
I have been seeing lots of bucks passed on upper 120s and seen 1 150 class 10 pt within 35 yards .Be back out on monday.Leatherneck put some pressure on me.
Wish I could say today was the day, but saw 2 small bucks 20 yard, 6 bald all close. Probably should have considered taking a doe today, but I didn't. Put in a new ladder stand today that is absolutely in a terrific sport ( I guess they all are)...so hopefully I will get one of the 2 150'+ that I have been seeing. I will keep you updated.
I will be out doing some squirrel hunting this week with my girls. We'll take my bow and an airgun to be ready for all occasions. Small critters get the airgun, the bug uns get the bow! My daughters will have the airgun and I will have the bow. Who knows, maybe we all will get to do some shooting!
-Charlie
Here's some more pressure longbowben. Got this off the camera by my stand in my pines where I shot my buck this year. 7:36pm yesterday(sat.) evening.
That's the buck that made the right choice last week thought i had him.Maybe tomorrow.
I had one I've been waiting to see make the right choice Saturday evening. Came across to me at 20 yds to my right and moved at a perfect angle with the trees to block my shot. The whole thing, including watching him lay down two scrapes, then watching four does come out and pee in them, took about 40 minutes. I'm getting to old to hold onto to hope and have my heart racing that long! He's a beauty of a 12 pt, great mass, real tall main beams, but average tine length. Probably go mid 150's. One of them "Just in Case" deer. The kind that keeps you from shooting something else "just in case" he shows up!
How do you guys get out to hunt so much? NOT FAIR! :knothead:
-Charlie
You've got to make time for it!!!! Put up a new stand yesterday in a perfect location...hopefully it get's me close to the 150's I'm after. I will give it a shot tonight and will report back if anything happens.
On the way to hunt Sun. morn, I had to stop the truck to let a heavy-antlered 10pt. pass...biggest deer all season! On stand, I drew on a smallish 6, but he wouldn't stop no matter how loud I bleated at him...until he got out of range and stopped to work a licking branch. 15 mins later I went to draw on a big doe, when another one spotted me and spoiled the party.
Charlie you just have to be willing to accept the consequences!!!!!! ;)
Took a 8pt buck last thursday from the ground with my fox High Sierra. Thanks to a 10pt which chased him back into the wood'line from the beanfield. Now to tune up my new Royal Crown for a doe.
thump, were are the pics and story :campfire:
Yeah Thump, Where is the story and pics?
-Charlie
thump-Remember, man law. Sorry ladies, Trad Gang Law.
Ok hear it is. Around 5pm my friend Ray called and said while he was triming some limbs while in his treestand he sliped and cut the string on his new brackenbury recurve which sent it out of the tree .He climbed out of the tree picked up his bow walked back to his truck. He stated that on his way out he jumped A bunch of deer and that I needed to get out. After having a good laugh I got dressed and with 2hrs left of light I pulled into my spot .The wind was wrong for the stand I had placed on a trail leading into a beanfield so I picked out a spot on the ground accross from it cut some branches for cover and waited Around 6;45PM The 10 pt entered the field up wind of my location withen 5min the 8 pt came out in the same spot every few minutes the 10pt would give the 8pt that look and he would move closer to my ambush. But it looked like he would stay in the field And if he did as he came around the corner I'd have to shoot through a maze of branches and the ground was to full of fallen limbs to stalk any closer. just when I thought he was going to pass the trail leading back into the wood'lot the big big boy starting walking towards him he jumped out of the field and entered my shooting lane in seconds my ceader arrow took him through both lungs at 15 yards and I heard the crash seconds later .After a quick recovery I called Ray and thanked him. He's waiting for his new strings to arrive in the the mean'time his using one of my bows.
Great job, Congratulations! Where are the pics? I'm living vicariouly through you guys right now. :)
-Charlie
Way to go thump-now wheres those pics?
Congrats!
I can't wait for the picutres too!!!
Had another goodmorning saw a 120 plus 8 pt.This is him. (http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj10/longbowben/DSC02431.jpg)
I shot a nice buck on Sunday( the garden buck) from my ground blind. I have been seeing deer everytime I go out. Most are small bucks, does and yearlings.
Is that deer tied up??!!

If you look at the branch near it's neck--doesn't it look like he's tied up?? :bigsmyl:
17 days and a wake up and I'll be heading to Ohio for a week long hunt.
Longbowben, I'll be happy to help manage a few of those deer for you when I get there :D
Here are more. (http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj10/longbowben/DSC02393.jpg) (http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj10/longbowben/DSC02483.jpg)
See you soon.We are going to have a great time,And your going to put on some weight.
Great looking 8pt BIG body size
You all just leave that 8pt. alone. I've got him slated for opening day NEXT year!lol
Oh yea Paul, you'll definately gain some weight. The smoker will be fired up. Hopefully we'll get you on a good one.
Longbowben...nice pictures!!! Hopefully I will be able to share some of the 150's I'm targetting...no luck yet but some good sightings. Isn't it great to be alive this time of year chasing big bucks in Ohio!!!!
Dan
All of this bucks are too small to shoot .We will be checking more cams this weekend And missingimpossible just built 2 more to putout this weekend. We are trying to find big 10 which is the biggest buck on our farm 180plus.Havent seen him since aug.Good luck to you, And yes its great hunting big bucks in ohio.
Took today off after hunting this morning and seeing alot of deer. Looked at the weather forcast and it called for rain until around 5:00PM thought the deer would get up and move to go to the corn, and I was right seen close to 30 deer 11 bucks but no shooters. When the rain stopped the deer opened the flood gates and ran for the corn fields. Did my part and took a nice juicy doe for the freezer. This was by far my best sit yet this year, seen a nice 8pt maybe next year for him. Now the wait begins for my buck :archer:
Congrats lets see it.
man you guys got it made in the shade gettin to shoot multiple deer.guess its a good thing i only hunt elk or i'd be your neighbor.i buy my deer tag every year just in case i run into a huge mulie while i'm herding elk :D
Yea Larry, multiple deer, but only one buck. No matter how you kill it(gun, bow, muzzleloader) still only one buck. Thats why they get so big around these parts. But we are aloud several does:) I'm itching to get back out. Maybe this weekend. Can't wait to get Paul up here in a couple weeks. You could be with him?????
forestcreature-congrats! nice to get some meat in the freezer. He double lunged her at 8 yards and she only ran 30 and tipped over. Doesn't get any better than that.
I got lucky Sunday evening. I took a 9 pt, gross 131 P & Y. Took it with my new GN Critter Gitter, Jacknife, 62", 46# @ 28", wood arrow with a 160 gr Stos broadhead. He was following a couple of does.
Congrats fishone!!!!!! Lets see some pics and hear the story. :campfire:
I'll give you the story tonight. I have photos but don't know how to post them. I can send them to someone if they know how to post.
Man, I've got to get moving...for some reason I'm just not getting out in the woods this year. I think I was was so dang pumped up for my elk hunt that I really didn't do any deer scouting/prep. So I just threw a couple stands up and that was it.
Plus this is my first year working 3rd. shift and I just can't seem to geet motivated. I'm either too tired in the a.m. or get up too late in the p.m. :help:
I'm hoping if I keep checking in on these posts, I'l get myself pumped up. Usually, I'm chomping at the bit to get into the woods. I normally have at least 10 hunts in by now. I'm sitting on 2 short hunts this year!
SO.........as a hunting addict who seems to have fallen off the wagon------heep posting guys!! I'm counting on the updates!!
Maybe this will help Ben, I just pulled some fresh tender backstrap from a doe I got 2 weeks ago, out of the broiler and and am enjoying it while I type this!
Here is the story:
Sunday afternoon I called my bow hunting buddy of over 20 years to asked him where I should hunt Sunday evening. I had been hunting several times and seen a few does but no bucks. He suggested a woods and told me to climb a tree next to the standing corn that surrounded the woods. He thought there might be a buck or two in the standing corn field.
At 4 pm I headed to the woods. It had been timbered a few years before so there were not many trees I could climb with my Ol Man climber.
I found a smaller tree right on the edge of the
woods, next to a 30 ft quail habitat strip, with
standing corn all around the quail habitat. I was
40 yds from the corner of the woods when it made a 90 degree turn to the left, with the same type of cover for 1/8 of a mile.
Nothing happened until about an hour before dark.
I heard some noise that sounded like deer in the standing corn field about 50 yds away to the left. I then seen a doe and 2 yearlings coming from the North in the quail habitat eating ears
of corn from the corn stalks as they walked. I then noticed another deer about 20 yds behind the first three deer. It was a very nice buck.
They fed to South where the woods, quail habitat
and standing corn took a 90 degree turn to the West, which was towards me.
The doe and 2 yearlings came within 15 yards of me, with the buck now 40 yards behind them. I knew I wouldn't get a shot at the buck as the doe was about to get down wind of me and this fun would be over. I waited for the doe to smell me and then blow, but it never happened. I couldn't believe my luck. The doe then took a right turn into the woods. Again, I knew the doe would cross my track where I walked in the woods
to the tree and alert the buck. I couldn't believe it but she crossed my track without alarm. Was I actually going to get a shot at this buck????
Now my attention was focused on the buck. In order for me to get a shot I had to turn towards the tree, stand on the back left edge of the stand with both feet and lean out around the tree.
The buck was now only 15 yds away following the same path as the other deer. He stopped a step or two just short of my small opening to shoot, in heavy brush. It appeared he was looking at the other deer.
In slow motion, the buck stepped into the small shooting lane. I remember picking a spot on the buck and starting to pull the Great Northern Critter Gitter longbow back. The next thing I know, the woodden arrow, with a STOS broadhead is
sticking into the buck at the spot I was looking at, up to the white bannana flething.
The buck was running flat out instantly. He ran into the woods in the direction of the other deer. I could hear him running for about 120 yds then everything was quiet. I did not hear him crash like I thought I would. Were my eyes playing tricks on me? Was the shot not as good as it looked? Did he go down and I didn't hear him?
I finally came to my senses. I took an arrow out of my Arrowmaster Quiver and shot it in the quail habitat where the buck was standing. I climbed out of the tree as quiet as possible and headed back to the house. I called my bowhunting buddy and told him what happened. He has a female wirehaired dachshund that is just under 2 yrs old, born and bred to track deer.
It took us over an hour to get the dog, lights etc, before we got back to where I had shot the buck. We started the dog right where I had shot the arrow into the ground for a starting point. Within 20 yds that little wirehaired dachshund had the blood trail. At 60 yds we found th back half of the arrow. It looked good, however, the blood trail was not the best. The little dog was working her majic and at about 120 yds we found where it looked like the buck had laid down. There was quite of bit of blood but it was not good that the buck was not laying there dead. We stopped and discussed whether we should stop and come back in the morning. I said lets take the track another 30 yds and see what happens. We took the blood tail about 10 steps and buddy turns around and says congratulations! There is your buck. The shot was quartering away just a little. It took out both lungs but most of the blood stayed in the deer. He made it about 150 yds from where it shot him. What a great night! This is the best buck I have ever taken.
I am going to send some photos to another member to see if he can post me them for me.
Here are the pics that fishone sent me to post. Nice Buck!!

Nice buck - great job!

Very Nice!!
Way to go...what a beauty!!
Nice deer! Congrats!!
Thanks guys!
Fantastic!!
Nice Job Craig! :clapper:
I have been hunting a Jeckyll/Hyde buck this year. He has a nice rack with one side that would put him in 160's if both sides were the same, but they are not. One side looks like a rack off a 2 1/2 year old buck. I saw this buck in 2007 and passed him up. He made an appearance last evening at 4:20 pm. I got up late from an afternoon nap and took a shower using my wife's cucumber tea soap... Very dumb move. Every deer that moved in my range went downwind and smelled my soap. Had 17 turkeys feeding under my stand, so concealment was not a problem. Filson bibs and Gray Wolf gray wool. This was the first time I got this lazy and consequently, the first time I got scent busted by a deer I had visual contact with.
We should have brought home some meat tonight! Tell the story Rob! :bigsmyl:

Bonked a whistlepig in the head today. Pic and details at http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=068932&p=15#000222 (15th page of the Daily Hunt thread).
Good work Jim! We've been hunting Delaware with lots of deer sightings and quite a few in shooting range......
Oldskool will have to tell about that!
:readit:
-Charlie
Oldskool, were waiting???????????
Thanks Charlie. Haven't hunted Delaware in years - had a great gray owl try to steal my hat there once though.
Come on, Oldskool - spill the beans. :-D
Alright.....so Oldskool told me to post his story since he is on the road today. :readit:
It is a nice brisk afternoon with a fairly consistent wind. Not too much, but just about right for hunting.
We decide to go hunt Delaware Wildlife area where there are some good oaks with HUGE acorns falling. We have seen plently of deer in this location over the last few weeks. Rob decides to go into the spot we have been hunting and I go across the road to some other oaks (turns out to be my mistake).
Where I'm hunting, there is quite a bit of mast on the ground from hickory and oak trees. I thought this would work out well with a pond just behind me. I'm not there 10 minutes when the squirrel brigade starts going crazy! I mean, I am covered up in squirrels. Immediately, I decide to take a shot at a big fox squirrel. Of course, I don't pick a spot and shoot right over him. Now the entire woods are filled up with the sound of barking squirrels. Oh well, it is still a beautiful day in the woods.
Meanwhile, on Rob's side of the road....
Rob is walking into the woods and sees the white flick of a tail so he immediately freezes. While standing there, more deer filter through, but no shot. After they pass, he continues through to his brush blind in the "good" oaks and sits down for the evening. After a short wait the deer filter back into the oaks. There are 8 of them total, a mixture of young bucks and does.
While the deer are feeding, both a doe and a 4 point buck offer up perfect broadside shots at the same time. Are you askng yourself, what would I do? Well here is some more info to help you decide.
The yearling doe is standing with her head behind a tree at 7-8 yards with her vitals WIDE OPEN! :saywhat:
So next time you see Rob, kick him in the shorts for me! :biglaugh:

Good job Bill! I'm still working on getting one in the freezer. Glad to see a post from you...It's an honor considering the quality of your bows. :notworthy:

Wish I had something to report, but the bucks have split up and it's tough right now. Seen a few small bucks but none of the big bucks I saw earlier in the season. I'm be out most of the weekend...except for Sunday afternoon...have to watch my Packers beat the Browns.
Where did you all go? This time it was on page 3. Now I know we are in the Oct. lull right now. But at least keep chatting for my sake. :bigsmyl:
What was I thinking, you are not posting because your out hunting! Good job Ohioians, I'll keep the fire burning at the cabin for ya. Good Luck!!!
djanko-you must type faster than me.
Yes real slow right now.All small bucks right now but its coming.
Coming up on my days off... I'll try to add another to the photo collection!
Good Luck Tim!
No October lull here! I was out the other night hunting in some oaks and a doe offered me clean shots several times at about 23-24 yards. I'm not comfortable shooting that far, so I let her pass. I also had deer feeding on acorns to my left in a bunch of brush for about an hour. They never gave me a shot, just stayed in the brush. I saw 7 deer total Tuesday night, but had to pass on the only shot opportunities I was given. It was still fun!

six misses in three nights all on does havent seen a buck, in a mental funk trying to shake it just staying positive
Had a nice past weekend. Hunted on Fri and seen 4 doe/fawns and then on Sunday afternoon seen 14 doe/fawns, no bucks. But did find a real nice scrape and other buck sign in the area. Hope to connect this weekend.
I was hunting on the ground just using a blowdown as a blind. On Sunday, 6 of the 14 deer ended up bedding in a thicket behind me know more than 10-15yrds away! :readit: :bigsmyl:  They stayed for over an hour before moving out into the uncut cornfield. It was so thick I had no shot. I guess woodsmoke dose make for good cover scent! I hang my hunting gear in the Tipi to take on the smell of campfire smoke. I have found that deer don't seem to mind the smell, if anything they seem more curious.
Good luck!

This one ought to get you all going. Me and Ben found this on a regular rubbing tree this morning. Ben checked these trees yesterday and it wasn't hit.

Saw two more does tonight, but they busted me getting into the woods. I had some more deer come in and mill around in the really thick stuff beside me. I could hear them, but not quite see them. It was fun knowing they were there at about 25-30 yards and not getting busted. One ran past just after last shooting light, but no deal. It is just a matter of time...hopefully!
I am expecting a new bow in the mail any day. Maybe it will change my luck from good to great! This season started out terrible, but sure has gotten better every day!

Saw a big 10, a bobcat, and two does this evening, one of the does rode home with me.

The woods are starting to come to life,There are rubs and scrapes everywhere. But most of the activity is still at night .When the ghost and goblins come out the deer will be on their feet IM PUMPED.
Nice one, Morgan!
Nice doe, Morgan, and I like your bible quote too!
My son and I are headed to Cinci in several weeks for a 3 day weekend. Gonna see The Ferret while there, and hunt the old farm where lots of memories were made when I lived there....
Good job Morgan.
Congrats Morgan. Saw me a bobcat as well. Well,I kinda saw him.

Well the weatherman is calling for rain/thunder storms starting tonight and Fri into Sat. :banghead:
Still have tons of corn on around my hunting areas, so not much deer in the woods. Plan on stand hunting on Sat. morning and still hunting the standing corn in the afternoon. See if I can't put the sneak on one in its bed or feeding.
