Post by: huntman on September 27, 2009, 10:17:00 PM
Does more of you use gloves over tabs for hunting?

I switched to a tab last year from a glove. Shoot good but harder to keep track of the tab while hunting.

I've used a tab most of my shooting career, tried a glove a few years ago for a short time, went back to a tab.

I think from polls that have been done in the past on this, that a slight majority wore gloves. Perhaps 60% to 40%? That's just what I remember, though, and it is always possible that a fellow remembers wrong! I use a tab. I'll see if I can do a search and post a link.

Well, there you go! I asked the same question back in 2007, in the form of a poll. My memory of the score wasn't too shabby, either! Sometimes a fellow scares himself!

I have gone back and forth, but always come back to a glove. As stated above, the tab is to hard to keep track of when hunting.

I have gone back and forth over the years but I've always done my best shooting with a tab. I like to use natural products when possible so that eliminates the synthetic materials. Besides, there's no better, or slicker materials then  genuine cordovan or (slink) calfhair.

Lenny Rock has been shooting very successfully over the years with a (slink) calfhair tab with a unique design. We are starting to make this "Rock Tab" now. We will offer it in an original and modified version. It's a three fingers under model and will be on the website soon. It's available now and can be ordered by contacting us here.

Tab here, some get a silver spoon--I had a piece of cordovan sticking from my gums.

I shoot a glove now, I started with a tab but then I found the American Leathers Bigshot glove and love it. Smooth release and made of Elk hide its almost already broke in. Plus I love the that I can still feel the string like with my tab

I switched to a tab this summer...so far I like it.  we'll see what happens when the first deer steps into my shooting lane   :)

currently using a BW calfhair split finger.   I like the velcro strap.

oh, and my tab is either in shooting position on my fingers, flipped around so it on the out side of my fingers if I need to use that for something (but still looped around the middle finger), or attached to my armguard slipped over and arrow in my bow quiver.

Tried a couple tabs and just can't get used to 'em.  Black Widow Super Glove for me.

I used to use a glove, but for the last 20 years or so have used tabs exclusively. The main advantage for me is that I can wear fairly substantial gloves in winter and still use the tab easily.

Tab.
Easy to get out of the way, if a hamburger comes along, or fingers are needed for more complex tasks. I usually hunt bare fingered, as it will only be one shot, right?

Have used both but found the tab to be easier and less bulk at the face. I use a cordovan tab from Alaska Bow Co. and cut it to fit so I don't have any extra material in the way. I shoot 3 under so it is just easier for me. This tab will last a lifetime and is always slick. Like Killdeer said it makes eating easier also!!

I made my tabs over the years. Cordavan leather is the best.  I make Super archery mitt copy out of better leather and a tab design that allows for a deep hook on the string is important for me.
