I'm looking @ stos & eclipe broadheads. I have 43 gr. adaptors but after i epoxy or use jb on them & if they dont spin true then what? I know i can use hot glue but does not seem as good.
Hot melt (dark stick) is easy to apply & will not come off. You can easily balance your head after a spin test. I've never used anything but hot melt for more than 40 years. JB might add weight; however, I can't see going with something that will lock you into a possible mistake.
I've used epoxy in the past and like hot melt better. Epoxy held better in targets, but you're right it's hard to adjust things after everything has set.
Hot melt allows for readjustment.
I don't spend a lot of time shooting broadheads, just enough in layered foam targets to make sure they impact in the same place as my field points. Hot melt holds well enough for layered foam and for passing through an animal. It may not hold for a lot of shooting at 3D animals.
I guess you just heat up the broadhead, twist it & let it cool down to spin test again?
Heat the arrow bevel over a flame and dob it into the hot melt when it's hot enough. The glue will melt. No need to burn the wood. You can see the difference very quickly. Just dob the hot arrow into the glue and spin it around. It will coat the point in glue. Stick it in the BH and quickly spin test & adjust. If it dries, heat the BH ferrule over a flame until you can reset the BH. Takes a quick second.
You got to spin it while you are gluing it bud if you use the JB weld. Just don't stop messing with it till it is good. The real trick to the whole thing is getting everything clean with Denatured alcohol or Acetone. That Acetone will prolly eat the paint off your broadheads so don't just dunk them use a Q tip.

I use hot melt on all of my broadheads. After I get them to spin true, I shoot/practice with them for at least a couple of weeks before season opens into a foam block target and the glue never gets loose.
I practice with them and then I hunt with them.
(I check and double check that they are still tight before I hunt with them of course)
Mo. Huntin is right, clean and de-grease everything!
I use a propane torch to burn out any machining oil from the broadhead. Be careful and heat slowly so you don't overheat the broadhead so you don't "lose the temper" of the broadhead.
Clean with acetone or Denatured alcohol and glue 'em on. Spin test and reheat and spin again if they aren't straight.

Don't use too much glue, that's where hot melt users make a mistake. Just a thin skin of it around the adaptor taper and that's it. They will hold through a lot of targets.
