Hi, I am moving to Novi MI from Sparta, MI due to work, and am wondering if there are any trad gangers in or nearby Novi. Looking for some place to shoot, and maybe someone who knows of any place within an hours drive to hunt?

I'm from Taylor, which is about 30-35 mins away. The Lincoln Bowmen Club is another 10 mins South of me. They have a Traditional shoot in Jan thru Apr.
I mainly shoot in my backyard.
The Waterloo and Sharon Valley State Game Areas are about 55-60 mins West of you. :)

I wish you the best in Metro Detroit, that will be a change for sure. You may want to also post on the Michigan Traditional Bowhunters and Michigan Longbow Assoc forums (also here on tradgang).

The LIncoln Bowmen Trad League begins the first Tuesday in January 2009 and runs to around April 14, 2009. We have approximately 26 to 30 shooters. We shoot at burlap animal targets and we all take turns calling the distance of the shot and the difficulty (turn around, kneeling, sitting, etc.) We shoot 60 arrows and its a fun shoot where scores are kept solely for the members use. We always have a great time and its open to members of the club and non members. If you want further details send me a private message. My wife and I run the league. We have a great bunch of shooters and shots are usually from 5yards to 25 yards. Hope to see you there.

Monty, you will be just south of Detroit Archers, Fred Bears old club, and just east of about 10,000 acres of state land. Island lake recreation area and Brighton recreation area, heck I just remembered Proud lake recreation area just north west of Novi, another couple thousand acres of state land. You'v got plenty of places to hunt with in a 30 minuet drive.

Thanks guys for the information. Looks like I'm going to busy over the winter and summer months searching out a place to hunt. I'm heading North to the cabin in Wellston for a week of bow hunting the 1st week of November, but I like to have a place closer to home to sneak out on a weekend also. Good luck to you all this coming season. Can't wait to get some hunting in this fall.
