Hello all,
I am a new member and this is my first post. I have only been shooting the bow for about two years but practice frequently. Yesterday evening I took my first game with the bow. I killed a beautiful doe at 15 yards on a hardwoods ridge while on the ground. I was using a Martin Bamboo Viper pulling @52lbs. with a cedar arrow and 165 gr. Howard Hill broadhead. Broadside shot and the arrow penetrated up to the fletching peircing thru both lungs. I have a lot more respect for what a bow can do and am truly hooked now.I would have loved to have gotten a photo but I was hunting alone and it was nearing dusk. Look forward to exchanging info and posts with all of you.

Excellent kill. Were you in a blind of some type? Or were you still hunting? As you well know, a whitetail harvested at eye level is a grand accomplishment to be proud of. Congrats! And welcome!

Thats awesome. It sounds, from your brief description that you did it the right way. Practiced, worked at it a couple years, and then had success. Doing it from the ground makes it extra special, IMHO.
Welcome to the group!! :campfire:
Congratulations on your first kill! The feeling of accomplishment from putting wild game in the freezer can't be matched. :wavey:

I was still hunting. Standing between two medium size trees on an open hardwoods ridge. I still cant believe she didnt see me draw my arrow on her. Her head was down and never moved until she was struck. Thanks for all of the responses.
Welcome :wavey:
