Title: Need the basic's about Recurve Numbers?
Post by: skinley2 on September 21, 2009, 02:57:00 PM
I have a Bear Recurve Grizzly, Canada 1953.   The marked numbers are:  serial #, amo-56", 45#. Please explain what amo-56" means.  Is this the string length?  Thanks.

AMO 56" means your bow length but the actual string length will be about 4-5" shorter. AMO was a standard that all archery companies had to abide by. Anyway...if you order a Dacron string for your bow, you order AMO 56"...
