Many oldtimers would use a single cut file to sharpen heads, and might put a serrated edge on the head. I find this method effective with softer steel, which don't hold a honed edge very long. I have a 10" Nicholson, Black Diamond,Crosscut, wedge shaped file that works great on various heads. Stones, honing stones, oil, diamond stones and ceramic sharpeners work well on harder steel. What works for you?
Once I get the angle I want with a file I use the KME knife sharpener to get a hair popping edge I like.
I use a Spyderco Triangle knife sharpener. It's a bit pricey - $85 (got mine quite a few years ago for only $50), but it is the best sharpener I've ever used and should last a lifetime. Below is a link for it.

KME all the way! Ron is a great guy and makes an awesome product. I just bought one for my father and used it on a Abowyer Brown Bear and I can honestly say my definition of hunting sharp has changed. I used a Lansky prior to that and in comparison its only ok...I will use KME for the rest of my hunting career!
Mill file, fine crock stick and a leather strop.
I use the KME Broadhead Sharpener.
I also use to sharpen my heads with a Lansky as IronCreekArcher mentioned. It did a good job but the KME is at least 10X faster as does a better job.
GOOD SHOOTING!
Slufoot
I have been using my Lansky for many years. I can use the clamp system for two blade or two blade w/removeble bleeds.
I also use just the stones to sharpen my Snuffers or WW.
Michael
KME knife sharpener. The real deal. I use removable blade Magnus Stinger broadheads.
KME sharpener, automotive wet dry sandpaper to 2000 grit mounted on a plate of glass. Scary sharp!

SL
KME broadhead sharpener with japanese water stones finishing with 6000 grit. So sharp you don't want to be in the same room with them
When they're new....I file them a few times to get the proper bevel. Then....I use a $8.61 3" diamond stone to finish them. I had a buddy here last week show me this.....and I'll never go back. Takes about 3 minutes a head.
Jim Castro Jr,
I like it!! was just wondering if something like that would work and here you have went and done it. :)
Only way that I have ever been able to sharpen anything, crocksticks.
Jim Castro Jr.,
Is that a picture of one you designed to get the bevel? Are using a stone to finish?

It works on all 2 blades
King, well done and good presentation. I will definitely give it a try. Barry
King, well done. I am going to give it try.
file then jewelstick stubby then strop on my armguard. "ready for water buff" sharp.
KINGWOULDBE is right on.
10" flat diamond stones, then leather with polishing compound. Chopapopadopolis! :D
I use a file and a ceramic crock stick. Hap
Cheap stone I bought at Napa, and a small arkansas stone for the final stage.I use water over the stone, and sharpen all my two blades on them.I use a belt sander and a file for three blades.
I'd like to try one of those snazzy KME's every one raves about.
I've always used a file and quickly got them shaving. I recently bought the KME broadhead sharpener and it's amazing. It doesn't really feel that much sharper compared to my file sharpened heads, but the angle is really steep making it hold it's edge alot longer. I shot completely through a doe last Sunday evening. Broke a rib coming out and stuck in the mud and the head would still shave hair.
Same as wingnut except I use a 1000 grit then 6000 grit waterstone then strop on leather with auto body buffing compound to finish.
I use a file and a crock stick also. Then i strop it on a piece of leather. These items carry easy in the woods.
paper wheels from AK bow supply - best thing since sliced bread.
J
I use the paper wheels on a bench grinder. It works really well and fast too. Alaska bow hunting sells them. I bought mine through a chef supply place on the net. Alaska bow wanted about $12 more.
With a wet stone, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry! With a wet stone dear Henry, dear Henry a stone!

My bucket's got a holllllle in it... :p
I have been using a Lansky on two-bladed heads with the file from the Little Shaver to set angles, then a series of progressively finer stones.
Got a double-sided diamond stone (coarse/fine) for three-bladed heads.
Killdeer
6" mill bastard file and light pressure. IMHO the easiest and best way to get a lethal hair poppin edge
