Never thought I'd see the day...I was in Kroger last night on the way home..and look what was sitting in the seafood cabinet-

If you figure they double their money that means you can get around 2 bucks a pound...that would mean a 30 lb buffalo should bring 30-60 bucks anyway.
Suddenly, bowfishing seems like a fine recreational activity! :goldtooth:
Yes may be, but it's a Canadian one! :readit: :jumper:
I noticed that, Frenchy..and it's WILD CAUGHT too! :bigsmyl:
True, eh. I hear they taste like beer. :biglaugh:
Well Ray, the Mexicans I worked with and other south Americans, love their carp! Waters are probably cleaner in Canada!
Smoked Buffalo is goood! Good shootin, Steve
I know, Frank. We have salt water fish here called mullet..I think the hairdo made famous in the South was named after them. I also was bowfishing a couple years ago and a crowd of Mexicans was watching me from the bank.
When I came up with my catch, they wanted them real bad. Turned out they boiled the meat off the fish, added cornmeal, jalapenos, and spices and made fish balls out of them.. the next day I saw the mexicans out there with 2x4's killing and catching the carp.
They have their afficianados, as does smoked mullet. It's just that I'd never seen Buffalo being sold commercially before, you know??
I hear they take off half the value if they have holes in them. :)
You just HAD to stomp on a dream, didn't you, AP.
Killdeer
well then shoot em in the head and cut fillets, boy! Dang. Do I have to incorporate it for you too????
With no heads on em you could call them "river snapper" and sell them for 8.99 a lb.!!!!!!

better off to fertilize the roses. last time I checked roses were $60-$70 a dozen.
maybe we should start a tradgang florist shop. lord knows we get in trouble enough with the wives buying and selling bows. we could give members a discount since they would be buying frequently. LOL
heck, you can buy buffalo ribs in the catfish restaurants here in AR. they aint bad. Better than carp.
I was electrofishing a weekago and could have bought a bow or two if we didnt have to let them go.
Dang, ya got my hopes up with the title. It's been a bad summer for me, had quite a relapse this year.
We use to eat carp when I was a kid. Called em Mill pond Mullets. Ah the good old days. DB

Here Here Weezy!! That is just funny!
I must have thrown about 3 or 4 thousand pounds of Buffalo back in the old Wabash River this summer out of my nets !!! How many bows would that have bought ? Shoot, I guess I've been keepin the wrong fish !!!
buffalo, carp, catfish and even the asain carp are caught and sold commercially here. I have a good friend that makes a fine living commercial fishing the Illinois and Mississippi river around me. he puts out hoop nets specifically intended for buffalo.
I'm okay now for a while, but I might have to look into this eventually. :knothead:
