I'm looking to change the rug rest on my bow and am curious as to what you guys use to clean the sticky residue that is left behind. I was thinking about possible nail polish remover but not to sure if that is a little to caustic. So then I know that I've seen Olive Oil used to remove sticky residue left from price tags on plastic surfaces so was thinking about this as well. Any information would be a great help thank you.
This place is the best, good people.
There is a product made called Goo Gone, it wont take the finish off your bow. Works great. You can get it at Wal-Mart.
I've also used denatured alcohol.
WD 40
I just keep it there if it is not much to it and it is just thin tacky coat. I am going to stick something to it anyway. When it has been gummy and spotty I just rub it with my finger and roll it all off for the most part. I just use Velcro so it doesn't have to be perfectly clean and spotless under there. I have never had one peal up without some effort to get it off. I just don't like to put any chemical on my bows when I see no need. I would hate to do something to the finish.
GOO Gone
Goo Gone and W-D 40
WD-40
Thanks guys you are great.
Charcoal lighter fluid works too.
denatured alcohol
I've used Avon skin so soft with some success. Also keeps the bugs down while loosing an arrow.
I tried Avon Skin So Soft once and the skeeters lined up to lick it off of my arms. Sorry..that stuff don't repel anything with six legs or more.
Goo Gone. It works...it's cheap...and it smells good 8^).
Good old WD40!
What these other guys said, Goo Gone, WD-40, denaturd alchohol but definetly not nail polish remover... that's got acetone in it and will eat the finish off in a hurry!
