I am looking to see if anyone has a bow/arrow setup that I am trying to achieve.
70 lb Black widow recurve. Must be 31 inch arrow. I would like to switch to a Carbon Express Heritage 350 with a 300 grain head. Does anyong know if this will tune correctly.
Thanks
I had no problems with that set up. 70lbs, 31 inch, 290 grains. I am using that same set up on a 60#, 31 inch, 250 grains Black Widow. I can send you a couple to try if you want. Send a PM.
If it's center shot i think it'll be pretty weak.
I am shooting a recurve that I made.. about 60 lbs at 31 inch draw. CE 350's and most I could get is about 210 gns on the front bareshaft. Probably could fudge it a little more but no way 300 gns. As someone on here likes to say.. your mileage may vary but that's what I found. I went to some 300 spine arrows but then they are hard to get to 600 gns because the shafts are lighter for the most part.
Sounds like 3 arrows has it working so I guess the only "real" way is to give 'em a try.
If I am not mistaken the PSAX Widow is past center shot. I like the CEs due to the weight (12gr/in) and the look. I thought this may be tricky but I would like to find out.
What in the world do bow holders do that need a 31 inch arrow. Surely some shoot carbons.
I've been asking myself the same question. I think we just give up on EFOC. The CE 350's w/ 210 fly great just can't get the new heavy heads. I'm thinking of trying the AD although the cost is a bit daunting but if they can handle the weight up front with the long draw it might be fun to give 'em a try. I'll keep an eye on this to see if anyone has the magic bullet for the monkey arm crowd.
I am also using some XX75 Black Gamegetters cut to 31" with 250gr up front. Have to raise the nock a little since the 2317's are like logs compared to the CE 350's. The past center cut Black Widows makes you have to go up 15 lbs in spine once you pass the 28 inch mark I believe. I could be wrong, been wrong since the day I got married.
"I could be wrong, been wrong since the day I got married."
If we are at the elk camp discussing strategy and our wife isn't there....are we still wrong?
yep
I'm thinking it might not be stiff enough. I'm shooting a 29" 350 with a 180 grain head out of my 70# PLX
I shoot a 29.5 inch 350 with 275 grain head out of a 64 lb PSA.
SL
I'm shooting a 70# @ 28" PMA that is just a couple of pounds over at my draw length. I'm shooting 29.5" axis 300 arrows with 3 gpi weight tubes and 175 grain tips. Any more weight up front and they are too weak for me. The black widow sight says that the pma riser is cut 3/16 past center. I don't know if the same can be said for the psa.
