Title: Best public deer hunting (WMAs or Nat"l) in SE Oklahoma?
Post by: Bowjangle on September 13, 2009, 12:13:00 AM
I want to hunt in Southeast Oklahoma this year. Anybody got some tips as to the best public places to bowhunt for deer?  Or how to get in on a good bow-only lease?

If there is a lake near where you have in mind you can call the local Corp of engineers and most waterfront property is bow and shotgun hunting only, they will send you a map.  Let me know if I can help you out any more.  Oh yea, look into pushamataha and surrounding counties if you can.

Watchout for the growers. It is about harvest time.

Check into Pushamataha wma.  My dad and I turkey hunted there.  Saw a lot of deer and some impressive rubs from previous fall.  The biologist there is very helpful.  A lot of pictures of large buscks taken off the place in his office.  Good luck.
