I posted a thread regrading hunting bow grips, now I would like to ask about hunting limbs. If I put you in front of a blank bale and you got in your shooting stance. Now one at a time i handed you limbs on the same grip for you to shoot blind folded, could you tell me which bow had longbow limbs? r/d limbs? recurve limbs?
today there are ILF r/d limbs being made. does the r/d limb have an advantage over a recurve limb for hunting?

i have two bows a Dryad and Horne that have both r/d and recuvre limbs. I can't tell the difference by drawing between recurve and r/d limbs when drawing them. if i pay very close attention to my follow thru I can feel the difference in the limb reccovery. it's slight but there. of course the arrow is long gone. I see no advantage of one over the other but there could be alot I am missing??? at least in the draw, and the distance to a blank bale

and for the techy guys the recurve limbs are 64" the r/d limbs are 66" so the string angle at full draw are close to the same.

How ya been Rusty?
Not too techy, but I like r/d cause the string don't slap the limbs. Prolly couldn't tell much diff tho.
Most of my wants pertain to huntin situations tho.
ken - i have to agree with you. there is a difference in the noise level. so that is an advantage.
any other advantage?

I can tell the difference between my Bob Lee longbow limbs vs. recurve limbs on the same riser. The RC limbs "feel" heavier in the early-draw but other than that I shoot them pretty much the same.
Like Kennym said, my longbow limbs are a little quieter...the recurve limbs are a tad faster.
The answer is maybe 8^).
George - LOL well me too, maybe
Mike - is the a difference in noise level between your recurve and r/d limbs. you make a good point there is a difference in the preload feel. do you find any advantage over one or the other?
rusty
Rusty - just a little more "twang" with the recurve limbs although I still consider it a quiet bow.
Regarding pre-load, I tend to prefer the feel of the longbow limbs over the recurve but that doesn't translate into better or worse shooting...at least when the bow is in my hands.
A few years ago when I was shooting heavier bows I had a set of 64# recurve limbs and a set of 67# longbow limbs and the heavier longbow limbs were eaiser for me to draw. At the weights I'm shooting these days the difference is negligible.
Mike, I think that is an accurate assessement,
