What a fantastic day. Shot this guy at 7:25 this evening. He went about 80-100 yards before piling up.

Nice TJ, big bucks early seems to be your theme.
Thats the kind of stuff you dream about! Congrats! Could you give us a rundown of the buck's actual body weight and your hunting set-up?
Hey guys thanks a lot. I called this deer "Barnacle Bill". He was one of the longest and heaviest bucks I've ever taken. Guru he had a 22" neck and was exactly 8" from eye to nose tip. I didn't weigh him due to it's very warm here and I was scrambling all last night to get him worked up. Teeth look to me like he was a 4-1/2 year old.
I have many trail cam photos of him along with a another great 10 pointer he was running with. I really wanted him do to he is a year or two older and more mature than the young 10.
Notice my treestand in the first black and white photo. I had my trail camera running when I shot him right in front of it so hopefully I got something good on it at time of impact with me in the background in the stand. I'll check it out tonight.
Thanks for all the ataboy's
T.J.

TJ, Not very many deer make an 8" nose to eye, and to have a 22" neck at this time of the year, holy cow bud...that is a monster!
Enjoy the feeling bro :clapper:
Great job Tom. Beautiful buck!
Tom, I was just telling my shooting buds about your trail photos you have been sending me! I knew it wouldn't be long.
What a way to start the year....big congrats!!
Awesome shot by the way :notworthy:
Tom,
What a terrific deer. You are making this an annual event. Great shooting. I see you used the Morrison instead of the Schafer. Way to go!!!
Tom
That is a beautiful deer> What a bruiser!. I can only imagine how fast your heart had to be beating when taking the shot. Congratulations on a successful hunt.

Awesome Deer. I have 3 I took in velvet with a bow, all 3 in a row, all 8 points, nothing in this class, what a pig! Congratulations Tom. Those Ky bucks are gettin better all the time, have seen 5 good ones this year, gettin time to hunt them is another story.
fine KY buck-congrats
Hogdancer, yes that's your old riser. I'm sure glad you had a weak moment.
Sharpster, the KME sharpener put an razor sharp edge on these Magnus Stinger broadheads. Blood trail was unbelievable. Thanks for all your help.
Congrats buddy!!
Tom,
What a great buck! Sure will be a cool mount if you can keep the velvet hanging like it is.
Heck of a buck man. Outstanding.RC
Steve, I am having it mounted just like that. Hopefully it will turn out well.
I knew as soon as I saw it that it was the same deer you edited the pics of on the trail camera thread. Congrats on a job well done.
That's what I'm talk'n about!
Congrats...
I sure hope you had someone helping on the drag out! Man thats a hugh body deer! Congrats!!!
Michael, we had to drag him out of the thicket for about 20 yards and then we were able to get the gator right to him. Had 5 good friends show up for the recovery. Man what a special time.
Way to go TJ, congrats!!!!
Congrats TJ. Man, what a brute. That sure is a good lookin' deer...Mike
Great deer!
So, TJ, did you get a chance to check the trail cam for more pics and maybe one pic of you in the stand with the buck right before you put the arrow through him?!? That would be just too cool, heck I don't even think I could take it! Once again, great pics and an awesome whitetail!
No such luck Doug. I checked the card last night and it didn't happen. Would have been pretty cool if the camera caught my shaft going through him while he was bounding off and me with my bow up having just released. Oh man in a perfect world.
Good luck to you this season brother.
T.J.
Thanks T.J. Now, go and get ya a big fat doe to match!
