Just curious. How much do you pay in your state for your license(s) and what are your limits?
I just renewed my NC license and it was $55 for our "Sportsman's" license with coastal fishing. So that's small game, inland fishing, trout, game lands, coastal fishing and big game (2 bucks, 2 does, 2 hunters choice deer, 2 wild boar, 1 bear, 2 turkey).
Nova Scotia canada
Base wildlife stamp required for all licenses 3.00
small game 17.54 (grouse 5 in posession, pheasant 2 in posession)free for 65 and over
deer 28.33 free 65 and over(1 deer and one antlerless dear in special zone)
Bear 28.98 (one)
Rabbit - requires base wildlife stamp (no limit)
fishing 25.10 age 65 and over - 6.15
you need a hunter safety card/course for gun and one for bow
Count'em.. 98 BIG ONES in New York for a "Sportman's License". Includes Big Game (Rifle/Shotgun, Bow & Muzzleloader), Small Game, 3 deer tags, plus two antlerless tags (that you apply for but may not get), 4 Turkey tags 2 Gobbler (Spring) / 2 either Sex (Fall), a Bear Tag and Freshwater Fishing License. Saltwater License effective 01/01/2010 is another 10 bucks. It's been 7 to 8 years since the last license increase, so it is desperately needed; in Conservation & Wildlife. Problem is the increases are NOT going into the Conservation and Wildlife programs. The money is going to the State's General Fund - which is just simply wrong.
$34 for Sportsman Licence, takes care of all game with archery and primative weapons.<>< del
I have $62.50 in PA license. 1 buck, 2 does, and small game.
I just paid $68 for the following:
Sportsman License-Hunting/Fishing
Habitat Stamp
State Waterfowl Stamp
Archery tags-1 antlerless, 1 either sex
I was told by the vendor that next year the price is going to double on all licences. I don't mind paying more but in this state I'm sure it's not going to what it's intended for.
I know that 570 dollar elk license that i ate last year still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Like was said above...New York sportsman 98.00. With the money not being used properly and little or poor game and land management. Its really a shame from what it used to be. But I'll play till I can leave the state, which I hope will be in the next few years.
$76 for 4 does, 2 bucks,4 turkeys, and bear tag plus small game in Va. Well worth it.
Deer=$76 buck+doe
Bear= $38
Turkey= $48 2 birds
Small game= $20
Migratory birds $18?
Fishing= $28
$228...Welcome to ONTARIO
:knothead:
Mississippi limit is 3 bucks with 10" or 12" inside spread or 13" or 15" beam length, depending on which zone you're in, and 5 does. Trying to keep from killing any 1 1/2 year bucks.
None of us is rich, but what we have to realize is that those dollars allow us to do things only nobility can do in most nations. Let's not complain too loud until we take stock of what we've got. Don
Good point, Don. I don't complain- we have it great here, at any cost!
I bought an Indiana "lifetime license" in 1986-7 for 360 bucks that covers all turkey and deer tags and small game licenses till I die.
Even if I move.
That's correct. I haven't had to buy a deer tag for over 20 years.
My 15 minutes of fame for realizing where this all was going and saying heck with it I'm buying one.
Licenses increased by 40 percent 3 months after I bought it and have went up 240 percent since.
Limits for this year is 2 reg archery, one firearm and one muzzleloader plus 8 "bonus county" deer for this county.
Each county has it's own bonus county limit. No limit on the TOTAL of "bonus county anterless tags" per hunter statewide, if you have places to hunt in different counties.
One buck......period. I believe that this is the 7th year of the "one buck per hunter per year, any weapon" and it is starting to pay off in an increase of mature bucks being more commonly seen and taken.
Hope all have a great season! I have hopes of one.
Combination hunting/fishing(One buck tag,one Bear tag, small game and all fishing)-32
Archery tag(One doe and one buck)-17
Muzzleloader tag(One buck)-17
Turkey tag(Two spring gobblers and fall either sex bird)-17
Moose permit lottery-10 to enter, 100 if you get drawn
Antlerless lottery for smokepole season-10 to enter for one doe tag(should count as a fourth deer because it's an extra tag that's not guaranteed to you OTC,but it counts towards your yearly limit of 3 deer even though you have to buy a muzzloader buck tag to be able to use it...but then the state would get less money and we can't have that...
I have a lifetime Georgia license. I THINK it was $500. The only problem with it is you feel like you're getting something for nothing after awhile. I know that's ok with some guys, but it bothers me.
As long as the monies go where they're SUPPOSED to go, I'll pay whatever they ask as I buy several out of state licenses every year. And how can you put a price on what I enjoy every year??
$19.00 Archery 2 deer/2 turkey either sex.
$7.00 (unlimited quantity) archery antlerless deer.
$10.00 small game.
$12.00 fishing permit.
Plus any out of state tags I buy every year. Which on my two trips to Kansas were $630.00 per tag for non resident archery deer...!
We have it good in Missouri.
Here's a goody, CT has just doubled all fees and licenses. It will now cost a resident of CT just shy of $300.00 to buy hunting fishing combos with all tags. I think It's time to move. That's not counting everything else, drivers, builders, emisions, etc, it's nuts!!
38 for hunt fish combo, which gives you one deer and small game
21 for archery tag, one der, which negates your deer tag on the regular (rifle) tag. 12 for expanded zone area doe tag, 35 for expanded zone buck tag
20 spring turkey, 1 tom
10 for fall turkey, 1 either sex,
27 for a bear tag
fee for moose lottery application, extra if drawn
Our Combo-Deer gets ya 2 tags, any buck and a 4 pt+ .Bowhunters can shoot does with either tag. Gun hunters can only shoot bucks. $30
X-tra Antlerless tags for any weapon, draw only $4 appl fee, $15 if you draw.
Small game $15 + $ 15? for migratory birds
Turkey draw only $4 appl fee + $15 if your lucky on the draw.
Bear Draw only $4 appl fee + $15 if you get lucky.
Elk draw only $4 appl fee + $100 if you draw
Furbearer/Trapping $15
Fishing $15 + $15 for trout/salmon.

Zip-nada-nilch. Hold a Lifetime for New York. Think it was about $700 when I got it (added endorsements of archery and muzzleloader). A sportsman tag back then (fishing, small game & big game - one buck) was $68 + archery($15) - either sex, muzzleloader ($15) - antlerless, and turkey tags ($5). With my tag, I have lifetime free doe tags (2 - lottery, and turkey 2 fall & 2 spring). The yearly cost is now $98 and you need to cough up the extra $20 for a chance at doe permits. Held it long enough to be in the "payback" mode.
I also get to hunt my property in Ohio for nothing as they have a nice concession in their game laws for landowners...
Occasionally PA for late muzzleloader ($125) as a non-resident.
64 for a sportsman license. Includes everything but the federal duck stamp. Pretty reasonable.
Now a place to hunt is a whole different story:(
sl
$19 in MO for two any deer permits and two turkeys.
$19 for a hunt/fish combo.
$7 or 8 for unlimited anterless permits
$19 for two turkey spring turkey permits.
1/4 cent of every dollar (sales tax) I spend goes to conservation here in MO.
I have a senior lifetime license $95 which entiles me to take 12 deer. I also hunt Mi which cost $138 for nonrese archery 1 deer limit.
$25 for hunting license. our deer limit is 4.
31.50 here in Jersey for just Archery. Then there's the permits and Buck tag during the Rut. You buy a new archery license in January it's good for unlimited does in some zones or a buck and a doe or 2 does in others.
In Wisconsin, our Conservation Patron license, which covers most licenses and fees, costs me $165/yr It is worth it to me.
ChuckC
Well here in Kansas it's:
38.50 for a combination hunt and fish all residents must purchase a hunting license.
32.50 for statewide Deer either species either sex.
17.50 antlerless Deer limit of 2 can't be used on most state properties.
22.50 for Turkey primary tag
12.50 Turkey game tag
42.50 resident Antelope
252.50 for Elk ( once in a lifetime tag )
It depends on how much You want to spend and how many species You want to hunt. From where I live it's 4 hours to Mule Deer probably 6 hours to Antelope and 3 hours to Elk.
Whatever You choose to hunt in Your state or out of state have a great season!!!!
I bought lifetime licenses for both of my boys when they became old enough to hunt, for $500 each. They can hunt and fish in MS for life, no matter where they live.
Initially paid $119 for a Sportsmans license that includes hunting, fishing and trapping. It covers deer, elk, bear, small game etc..
Later,drew a moose tag,$125.
Then drew antelope and mule deer doe tags.I believe they totalled about $38.
Just the other day, added wolf and mountain lion licenses, another $38.
I guess this year I spent around $320,but it looks like I'm covered for about everything except sheep and goats.
Now all I need is time.
Biggie, you and me both! As long as it goes to where it is supposed to go!
I haven't gotten a lifetime license yet, but all my instate tags run me somewhere around 85 dollars a season. I get the Basic hunting, large game, archery and muzzleloader licenses, plus a Nat'l Forest stamp.
Killdeer
I just bought the lifetime license for texas 1000 dollars but just went up to 1800. You can get the sportsmans packages for 68 dollars now. includes everything except duck and public land which i believe is 40? for public land permit.
not bad for all the hunting you can do here if you have time or land
Maryland with archery and MZ stamp = 36.00
On base tag Aberdeen Proving Grounds = 50.00
Ohio non res with deer tad + doe tag = 165.00
Penn. non res =102.00
Someplace to hunt every week from mid Sept to Feb = PRICELESS
The "Sportsman's License" here in KY includes Standard Hunting and Fishing license, Spring Turkey permit (2 male birds), Deer permit (1 buck, 1 doe), Fall Turkey (4 birds, either sex), Waterfowl permit and Trout permit and costs $95. Bonus Antlerless deer permits are available for $15 and allows for the taking of 2 deer per permit.
The upside is that 100% of licensing monies go to the Ky Dept of Fish and Wildlife Resources. They receive no money from the general fund and are completely funded by the buying of licenses, boat registrations, and federal grants.
Ike 403, that's sounds all upside to me there in Kentucky. That's pretty reasonable for all you can take.
Can't buy a lifetime license in Pa. until you are 65. No such thing as a sportsman license, but our license here are very reasonable...even for non-residents. $20.70 for resident, $16.70 for archery tag, $11.70 for muzzleloader. Non-residents are $101.70 and you can hunt all small game and deer (1 buck, and 1 turkey). Doe tags are based on WMU allottments and are $6.70 for residents.
The extra 70 cent fee per license is for the new automated system cost.
For all info: http://www.pgc.state.pa.us
super sportsman + $10 apply for doe tag (which i got denied!) was $98.
Don Thomas is right about our right to hunt and fish here in this country. Some places only the rich or noble can enjoy these things. The thing that gets me is when fees go up and up, it seems services get less and less. Closeing of fish hatcheries and stocking programs, cutting back on pheasant stocking and poor land management all come with the higher price of tags...just don't sit well with me.
Lifetime license here in MS, so i pay nothing.
That was the best birthday present i ever got when i was a kid.
$24.00 (archery only) I got 3 tags
For those of us who are residents and 60 years of age or over, Alaska issues a PID license good for all Fishing/Hunting/Trapping. It is free of charge and good for long as you live.
Sure is appreciated!
Best Wishes
NOTHING!!! Indiana DNR really screwed up a while back and offered a Lifetime Hunting License to its residents. That hunting license covered small game (24.00), Deer (archery 24.00, shotgun buck only 24.00, bonus doe any weapon 24.00, muzzleloader 24.00 and any extra doe you kill is like 15.00 or something like that), and Turkey (24.00 plus 9.00 bucks or something for the stamp) 175 bucks a year to hunt if you dont have that license.... I paid 1100 for my lifetime license when I turned 16. I am now 28 and the IDNR will not recieve another dime from me to hunt this state. The only other expense I have is if I want to fish and thats 24.00 bucks.
I say they screwed up because of the fact that short sightedness is what is costing them money. The people that didnt get that license are paying in each season, but that number has to be drastically lower than it was. The IDNR stopped issueing the lifetime license because they realized it was going to cost them a metric tonne of money down the road. Think of all the kids whos parents were in a postion to purchase this license for their kids. Say 100 kids got that license when they were 16 now they are 26. That means that over the last ten years IDNR has lost 50K on those 100 kids purchasing license each year if they hunt every season. Now scale that up and do the math. Lets say 100,000 people bought that license ten years ago. IDNR just lost 50 million.
46.00 for Colorado elk, resident. Deer are all draw this year. You can get more than one license but it would be lengthy to describe how. go to the CDOW website for more info.
In NC Lifetime License money goes into an Endowment Fund. They only get to spend the interest on it every year. Its up over $68million now. Bought both my boys lifetime licenses before they turned 1. It was $200 for infants, $750 for adults. I thought it was a pretty good deal.
The lifetime license many states offer are great when Your tags are combined. Kansas has a lifetime license available for $442.50 or a combination hunt and fish for 882.50 and You still have to buy tags for the same amount as a general resident. The only upside is if You move out of state You can buy tags as a resident.
Bretto I feel for ya have to drive so far for your animals get ahold of me some time and maybe you could come hunt mullies with me out here where i'm at just 45 min to mully ground
I bought an Iowa lifetime hunting and fishing lisense for $100 when I turned 65. (have to be 65 or older.)
That does not include yearly deer tag (either sex, $25,50),doe tags are like 10.50 after original either sex tag). trout stamps, fur bearers license, duck tags, turkey tags, etc, are all extra.
Indiana Life Time license best buy I ever made. Covers all season and all game. Also for being old enough I don't need a fishing license or any of the stamps. Just proof that I'm over 65.
60 bucks for a sportsman's license in georgia. That includes everything except duck stamp I believe. Even includes trout stamp, and we get 2 bucks and 10 does.
I feel like I'm getting a deal. $100.00 for the following; And we still have a 2 deer per day limit!
Gold Sportsman's License (includes Hunting, Saltwater Fishing and Freshwater Fishing licenses; and Wildlife Management Area, Archery, Muzzleloading Gun, Crossbow, Turkey and Florida Waterfowl, Snook and Lobster permits)
The only thing I have to buy extra is a Federal waterfowl stamp, I guess there are some benefits to living in Florida.
I still buy a non-resident license for Georgia, Alabama, and Kansas every year. And they sure don't seem to mind taking my money. Can't believe how much they have gone up. Believe Kansas may be off the schedule for this year.
$47 ollars for a mass licence, and 280.00 for a non-res ny licence!! im about at my limit for huntin ny. i do it because there are no deer around me, and i like to think that when i get up in the morning i may actually see something!!
gaff
$50 for s.c. sportmans license. covers private and gma lands. five bucks and can't remember how many does, small game, and fishing.
just paid about $82 dollars in Alabama.
hunting - all game.
management area.
state duck stamp.
fresh and saltwater fishing.
2 deer a day from Oct. 15 - Jan 31 though.
i think the hunting alone was about $37.00
You guys dont't know how are you lucky...In Italy you spend more then $ 800,00 for the licence, and you can shoot only small games.
Sig !!!
In a few regions you can hunt ( legally ) wild boars and roe deer but in the most part of the country is a trouble.
Our German friends are less lucky then in Italy....NO Bowhunting...In France the licence is cheap and you can hunt deer and boars.
Be happy to be American
The great state of NY has increased their fees on the super sportsman to $98.00 with the chance of drawing two doe tags, so this year I laid down the money and made out pretty well. I can shoot 1 buck during archery season, one archery/ muzzle loader doe, I lucked out and drew two doe tags for my area, then I have a buck tag for the gun season, I can shoot that deer with a bow if I so choose, a bear tag, two spring turkey, two fall turkey, and small game. At first I was mad about the increase but after thinking it over it's still a good deal.
Ouch. $800 for a small game license would see me working on my golf game a lot more (though I recall paying some ungodly amount for a beer in Venice a few years ago).
The Germans always surprise me by not allowing bow hunting. I lived there for a few years when I was young (in the early 70's) and they had a serious hunting tradition.
Should make us appreciate what we have.
Delaware is about 60 bucks for everything hunting. Thats a general hunting license, buck tags, fed and state duck stamps. You can hunt any game any season for this price.
I thought I'd add that DE license includes two buck tags (one over 15" and one hunters choice for $10) and four doe tags.
Well the last time NY licenses were going up, I guess around ten years ago I bought a lifetime sportsman and bowhunting. Since then they have raised the fees two or three times including this year so it looks like i finally did something right for a change. Another bonus about the NY lifetime licenses is that if you move out of the state they are still valid. Now if we could get our crooked politicians to use the money for what is supposed to be used for we will be doing great.
Arkansas is $25.00. Depends on what zone you hunt, you can kill up to 4 deer, but only 2 can be bucks. You can take all game with this license. This does not include the state and federal duck stamps or permits for special hunts.
hunt, fish, trap here is $62, plus $10 king salmon tag. some zones require a $25 locking tag for brown bear. musk ox for residents is covered in some areas too.
of course in order to take advantage of all that could cover ( grizzly, moose, sheep, goat, up to 5 caribou,3 blacktails and depending where you hunt unlimited black bear) you will need thousands of dollars to cover transportation be it boat, bush plane or road travel... this is a REALLY expensive place to hunt!!!
Hunting license - $18
Archery license - $18
Big game Tags - $18 (1-bear, 6-Deer 3&3, 3-turkey)
National forest tag- $4
Total= $58.00
Gotta love Va for hunting!
National Forest tag? We don't have that here is Arkansas. It must be a different nation. :D
430.00 for elk....125.00 deer...1000.00 to keep my old ladies yap shut about it....one good day elk hunting.....priceless
Just found out that Missouri has increased the non-res archery license to $225. Gun too. Archery was $150 last year. I'll pay it, and try to smile. :)
We have this guy running OUR state that doesn't know anything about the great outdoors - because unfortunately he is legally blind . Probably never enjoyed them like most of us have -sad . But every recreational liscense right through to our automobile tags are all going up this year, he sure knows how to raise taxes , he dosen't need any of those tags - it won't effect him in the least . As some from the great state of NY have stated earlier , it has been years since any type of increases until this year . So I went out and ended it all yesterday and bought a lifetime liscence for everything in hunting and fishing = $960 big game
small game
fishing
turkeys
+ 2 doe tags annually(lottery)
$58.26 for sportsman combo license in Georgia. We are allowed 12 deer, 10 does & 2 bucks. Gee, you guys up North and in Canada sure pay a steep price to hunt!
I'm from Tx. & broke down last mo. and bought the lifetime hunting/fishing combo for a $1000.00. They are now $1800.00 in tx. now. That also includes the achery stamp.Does any other states offer lifetime lic.?
License, elk and deer cost me $70.15 added a cougar and bear tag because I have been spending some time in the high country, another $27.00..PR
Huntman,
Go back and read previous posts about lifetime licenses. That will answer your question.
