Bless your heart, Don. Loo-ookin' - Goooo-ooood too ! :clapper: (I think that second one is a relative of my clan - :D )
Oh Yeah, Bernie is in for a good season!! As Bernie said "Bless your heart Don"
If the bears get out of hand i have the remedy!!I hope Bernie gets him one.
Thats an awesome gesture Don. You going to be shooting "Sneaky Snake" this season Bernie ?
Watch out, Ol' Milklip!
Killdeer :wavey:
LOL - Yeah, Killie, I told Don that the pic of the fawns was about standard for me on both time of appearance and/or type of sighting, lately - ;)
Yes, I will be hunting with ol' "Sneaky Snake", Chuck, my Dano made Osage bow.
I agree with all of you, Don is a number one type of friend.
Bernie that first pic gives you a spot(s) to shoot at. You won't have to imagine one! d;^)
Hope y'all have a good, safe, season. This is the best time of year, coming up.
wow don you've been busy... great pics too. good luck in gettin ya one this year bernie.
Thanks for all the good wishes - after two dry seasons in a row I should be getting pretty ripe - LOL
It would be pretty easy to pick a spot on that first pair, that is unless you get overwhelmed by all the spots there are to pick :bigsmyl:
Go get 'em!!
Bernie I hope Don can fix you up.I would like to see you shoot that bear with your little Sneaky snake.
Yes, James, I havn't got a bear since I left Maine, back in the early 90's as I recall. Ol Sneaky Snake does pack a surprisingly hard hit for it's weight, and is very quiet - untill the arrow hits the target. It always shocks everyone. That bear looks pretty serious about whatever it is doing, doesn't he? Probably thinking about eating one of Don's new cameras - :( :D
Good luck Bernie!
Good on you Don!
He just heard you might be showing up and got you on his mind.Maybe thinking about that old tough chew toy that might be on his menu in a few days. :D
ya'll two have a GREAT time this fall. we're expecting LOT'S of pictures and an awesome story from this Bernie. Don, you're too kind my friend and best of luck to you and the southern crew at the IBO Traditional World Shoot.

Don does that include shooting lessons to up the odds? :bigsmyl: Good luck Bernie, wrap up in a camo afghan and that big ol' bear will never see ya! Good luck and have a blast.
Best of luck....keep us posted!!!
Y'all can count on stories and postings - good or bad - :goldtooth:
Bernie, If that bear gets the best of ya, I call first dibs on your hat :D
Gee, I hate to break this to you but (surprisingly) there are quite a few ahead of you on those particular dibs - but thanks for wanting it, in any case ;)
For those who were following this thread (and others who may), I want all to know there is no doubt in my mind that Don is doing everything possible (and more) to accomplish his (and my)goal. To date there is nothing to report (of real note) except good times, compainionship, and hunts (plus some dampness - LOL). However, I did see some (3) Deer the last time out (up close and personal) and I have every confidence it is just a matter of time now before a good report will be forthcoming.
Heck, if that bear gets as close to you as it did that camera, there'll be "dampness" alright!
(I'd bring some extra britches). ;)
GO GET 'EM!
this should be good! Way to go Don
good luck to you both :archer:
Had another nice siteing/hunt Mon. AM of this week, at Don's place. Had a very nice Doe come out 15 minutes before shooting time and stay untill 15 minutes after start time. 30 full minutes in front of me,up close and personal, and I never got busted. Had a great time watching her but she never would give me a broadside view/shot before finally moving on (or is that off?).
Just to show how much help Don and his fine family are, when I came out of the woods I found this note under my windshield wiper, from Don's wife:
"Bernie, if you need help with a deer, call me at (number). Phillip is in the house sleeping and I will wake him up, Trish"
Don wasn't going to be available that day, and though I didn't happen to need help that time, it sure made my heart smile. Thanks, Battens!
Gonna try again tomorrow AM, if all goes well.
good luck buddy!
Bless your heart, Curt.
Aim small, miss small, Bernie. Sounds like an exciting hunt yesterday morning.
I got faith in my older brother!! Your seein' em, you'll get a shot.
"Become the arrow" Bernie. Good luck! :wavey:
:bigsmyl: :wavey:
Right there with ya Bernie. Get dangerous but don't get macho...let the kids drag it out.
Alright Bernie,where's the beef? :biglaugh:
Bernie at least you are seeing some.I have only had one deer in shot distance this whole season. Can't seem to break in the selfbow. It is a good thing we got a long season. :biglaugh:
Get em' Bernie!!! I was worried cause I hadn't seen you on here and I've been away for awhile. I just had a big sigh of relief when I found this thread. I still got the turkey call you made me displayed on my bow rack. Good luck buddy, hope you get a deer and a bear!!!
God Bless
Keep at em Bernie!
I don't think ole Garden Gnome Bernie worries about clean britches.... I think he packs things he can "depend" on.
Hey ya ole stinker! You been quiet lately on and off site. Good to see ya up to no good.
Keep the reports coming. I wanna see some critter blood...forget what it looks like myself! :biglaugh: :jumper:
Don, it's great that you are looking out for Bernie. Us senior citizen bowhunters can be intimidated by the thought of finding a deer that's down, dragging it out, and then having to process it.
I believe that there are several ways to develop participation and support for our sport. One of these is working with youth to educate them, and another is working with those who either don't have a lot of time, or a place to hunt, or who may not have the stamina to harvest and process.
Good luck!
