I'm interested in purchasing a Hoyt GameMaster II, in 45# @ 28". This bow will be used for 3-D and bowhunting of whitetails.
I'd prefer to shoot this bow off of the shelf, but I don't know if that's possible with the machined riser.
I'd like to hear from owners/shooters of this bow.
* How well does it shoot (the bow's attainable accuracy)?
* Is it smooth shooting?
* Hand shock?
* Is there a simular bow that's better? (PSE Coyote)
Your opinions and experiences are appreciated.

I had one and found it to be a good bow. You can shoot it off the self. They tend to be more wieght than they say on the limbs, 2-4 pounds more. Very smooth to the draw and pretty good quality. I just never got used to the metal riser so I traded it. It is a much better bow than the Coyote, I still have one of those that I use just for bow fishing. The good thing is you can get differnt limbs and make it anything you want...hunting, target or whatever.

Smooth,no shock or vibrations.Will most likely be 2 or 3lbs heavier than marked so you are probably ly looking at 47-48s with 45lb limbs.Can be shot off the shelf but you will need a thick sideplate to build out the riser because it is cut past center far enough for useing an adjustable rest.Great bow but shines with a centerrest instead of off the shelf.jmo
A Quinn stallion would be another good bow if shooting off the shelf is the biggest concern.Cost would be lower but other qualites are much the same. jmo

thats all i own is gamemaster 2's. i have a 44# and a 52#. i also shoot off the shelf using a thick sideplate( felt furniture leg pads). i have shot and owned many other big name bows and i have always come back to the hoyts. the only bow similiar would be the dorado or a quinn, as james said. and for me, i feel no stacking or shock but i also have a short draw. but nonetheless, they are a blast to shoot.
BTW- the coyote is junk, i had one for bowfishing and it broke in no time.

First Recurve I ever owned, and really it was ok to learn on but I spent most of the time trying to get it to shoot decent of the shelf. Not really my cup of tea but my 45# really spit an arrow. Regret spending waaay to much for it new.

For less $$$, I think you'd love a
60" or 62" Quinn Stallion. Everything I read
about them proved true, and for the money,
you cannot find a finer bow.

I love my 45# gamemaster 2. I've never had a problem shootin off the shelf. One flaw is noise. I got das kinetics limb pads for it and cut noise way down. Put some big puff silencers on it and my arrow weight is 10.7 gr/lb and have had people say its quiet. I was also surprised by the range of arrow spines that fly well out of it.

i dont know what it is about mine....but noise was never an issue. i put a set of limbsavers on, brace height at 7.75", and a set of catwhiskers. thats it and i shoot 8 grs per # out of the 44# and 7.5grs per # out of the 52#. and trust me i know what a loud bow sounds like. the only thing about the quinns, which is why they are priced so great, is the risers are cast aluminium and magnesium. the hoyt is 100% machined. ive always wondered if that had an effect on the strength of the riser??

Outstanding bows IMO. I have owned many much more expensive top end bows and only 1 or 2 shot as well for me as my GM2 does. The dorado is excellent as well. I feel the GM's and Dorados are very underrated.

I agree. Love mine and the limbs are so smooth to draw. Mine is quiet too.

either on the classifieds or you'll have to find a hoyt dealer.
