My friend Todd Gregory started his season off right. He lives in a nice bear area and has been baiting them for several years but has not been able to put one on the ground until yesterday. He got a shot with his 60# HUmmingbird longbow at about 12 yards. Shooting a CarbonExpress with a No Mercy head he got a quartering shot at 12 yards. He is guessing the dressed weight at 200#. He is keeping the bait going as they have had seven bears around their place all summer. If the bait gets active again I'll be in his tree stand Sunday night. Todd will be in a second one with the video camera. His wife took a real nice video, according Todd. Hope this pic shows up OK.

Well-done to Todd! That other bear is nice; I hope you can get him!
Congrats to Todd, and good luck to you Bill!!
Congradulations and good luck. Hap
curious about the "No mercy" head,,, was it a complete pass through & nice blood trail & how far was the recovery for him?
Congrats.
Hopefully you'll score as well Bill.
The No mercy was not a pass thru. The arrow hit the off shoulder and did not break thru it. Penetration was within an inch of the fletching. The blood trail was faint as 90% of the bleeding was internal. The trail was easy because the bear kept running and scuffed up the ground with every step. He went about 150 yards and died running.
Next photo better have you in it Bill...with a nice blackie.... :readit:
Nice Bruin!!! Now get the other one....
If I don't score on bear this weekend, Laura and I are headed to Maine the week after next. That will at least have us with stories to tell. My wife is just a bear magnet. Last year her first night on stand seven different bears came in. The only one that offered her a shot was a cub so she didn't shoot.
Congrats Todd! Nice bear. Good luck this weekend Bill.
