Just wondering how may of you use the same bow for the entire hunting season or do you switch back and forth with another bow. This year I will be shooting my Bear A mag with 47lb #1 limbs for the whole season.
Dave
-
Start the season with a 54# Wallace 1 piece, then when it gets colder will use a Crow creek lb for the remainder.
-
I'm a one bow man.
-
It's one for me, I like to shoot all summer with the bow I'm going to hunt with. I don't want any unfamiliarity issues when a deer shows up in range.
-
I will hunt with at least two, most likely more.Starting out with a Gamemaster and a selfbow.Don't know where it will end. :biglaugh:
-
My plan was to hunt with one bow for everything. However ended up with tendinitis in my left fore arm so I haven't been sure what I could draw day to day for the last month. Started with a 48# 1969 Kodiak hunter but have been shooting a 40# 1963 Pearson colt. May have to get out the 338 win/mag. We need to fill the freezer and it maybe time to set my own wishes aside.
-
One bow for me starting today.
-
A '59 Bear Grizzly.
-
One bow, a Mohawk longbow. I have a hard enough problem being consistent with one bow. I don't need to make things harder by switching around.
-
Two maybe three bows for me. I mostly use the longbows but I use my recurve in the blind because it is shorter. I shoot all my bows year around.
-
Been only shooting my new Dryad Orion all summer and plan on hunting only with this bow until the late season. Then I will hunt a few weeks with my PGA Widow just "because"...
Good luck to all this season.

I just finished making a recurve bow for myself and plan to hunt bear with it. But I also ordered a Tall Tines from Brian wessel and it will come in soon, so plan to hunt early season with it as well. Both have bubinga riser wood and veneers cut from the same stock. I haven't seen the Tall Tines yet, but SOON! Mike
-
I'll hunt with my purple 52# BBO. If I kill a deer with it, I may give it a rest and hunt with the orange and black 60#er, but the purple one is so nice to shoot.
Good luck this season Mike! (I'm asking for your book for Christmas!)
-
I'll start out with my Mohawk! I have a Big River on order which is close to being done, I don't know if I'll hunt with it, gotta get her tuned first. I'll take the Montana longbow out for rabbits later in the season.
-
I've been shooting several to see how my elbow holds up since surgery in May. So far a 45# '66 Kodiak feels good but I can squeeze a few shots out of a 50# '62 Kodiak, 50# Tice and Watts, or 50# Hoyt Pro Hunter. I may start with the '66 Kodiak though.
-
One bow here. Only reason I own another is for a backup.
-
I will be shooting a 57# Morrison Shawnee for this years hunting.
-
Im familiar with all of my bows and shoot them all on a regular basis but Ive never taken a deer with a long bow so this year its the 46# Griffin.
-
Two bows for me, and I own them thanks to two fine gentlemen here.
The 1968 Super K in 43lbs and the 1967 1/2 in 55lbs, two bows but different (shooting wise) only in weight.
I owe both at least a highly visible "THANK YOU!!"
Both of you must have shot most the misses out of them, lol.
Neither I nor my close freinds can get over how WELL I can shoot these two bows.
It's been and continuing to be a very rough year but these two bows have been a blessing.
After shooting them for the past few months, I can't imagine hunting with anything else.
God bless.
-
I'll probably use just one for deer season but I still can't pick which one. I'm leaning toward my Northwind Sage at 52 pounds. My shooting with each of my bows is improving considerably but I need to pick one soon so as to give me confidence in that one bow. I think after Christmas I may try to do some bunny hunting with one of my lighter bows, likely the 40# Shakespeare X-26.
-
I have been shooting several bows all year. But when its time to hunt, I'll carry my 62# longbow, as I have for the last 16 years.
-
I've been shooting the same riser for several years but have a new set of limbs that Brandon Stahl of Rose Oak built for me so I've been shooting them everyday. I'll hunt with this rig ninety percent of the time. I usually take one of two Super Kodiaks out for a day or two as well but I'd be fine with just the one T/D.
-
This is my last season as a "Righty"
I'll be shooting my Robertson Stykbow Purist 56# @ 28" for all of elk season.
Post-season I will begin the transition to LH.
Have a great 2009 hunting season!
Shoot straight, Shinken

I understand those Rose Oak limbs are great. Will have to see if I have any money left over after hunting seaons and order a pair.

It will be one bow for me. My Iron Mountain. I have practice extensivly with it. I know it's bad to say, but I havent shot my recurve for the past couple of months. I am still fairly new to trad gear.(only two years) I am focusing on the bow that I will be using for whitetails. Once a deer steps out, I want instincts to take over to get the job done. After season is over, I will bring my curve back out for some shootn. Once I get my 1st trad kill, I will eventually dedicate a hunting season w/ my Bear bow.
-
I have wished that I could stick with one bow. I have 3 and one on the way. Will probably hunt with all of them some.
-
Dave, Great thread. I have it narrowed down to 2 bows right now. A 1967 Bear Cub and a brand new Rose Oak TD. Both shoot great and any stray shots are operator error! I would feel 100% comfortable with either. John
-
'59 Kodiak
-
Right not my set up is a Bear A-mag with 50# number two limbs making a 58" recurve. I have a Bear double spring arm quiver on it and I am using wood arrows. Very old fashioned, and full of good mojo.
-
bear1336- I sent you a PM. GY
-
one for me,thunderstick mag.
-
For tree stand or stalking,Zeberawood Brack Quest, 62", 64#@28".
For ground blind, 58" Zebrawood/black phenolic Morrison mini 14 ILF 60#@28".
Danny

I think I'm going with My 51 lb fox longbow. My fox breed is a sweet shooter but the longbow just feels right.
-
Only the one,62" d/r longbow,53@28 -w/600 grn cx arra
tho I have slipped around and shot a couple others this summer!LOL
-
I was going to use two, my John Sherman longbow and my Whisperstik 56" 'curve, but another one showed up in the mail today. It's a Ron Maulding-built Big Horn Tamarack longbow and I've been out shooting it all afternoon. Amazing bow! I just may have to let the Sherman sit this season out on the rack and take the Tamarack.
Either way, the Whisperstik stays, for blinds and tight stuff.
-
Border GL longbow. Not as forgiving as my recurve but I love a challenge! I'll bring the recurve for a back-up bow always.
-
I shoot a few different bows during the spring and summer. When we get this close to hunting season it's one bow for me. This year will be a "new to me" RER Vortex with a recurve style grip.
... mike ...
-
It'll be two for me this fall/winter...my two Kwyk Styk 'curves, identical length, quiver, and grips...
I'll start the season with my 63#'er "Timex", and as it gets colder I'll switch to "Cy", my 58#'er...
Well I guess it'll be 3, 'cause I get Miss faith in December...
-
Probably just one...Black Widow SAG 58" 62# @ my draw...I have others but, this one has become my favorite...
-
Two for me 52" Ben Pearson Spoiler 51# @ 28" out of my ground blind and tree stand and my 67" 60# @ 28" osage selfbow I made this year In the corn field and brush blind.
Happy Hunting All!!!
-
Only got one bow which makes it a real easy choice. 55# Bear Grizzly.
-
I'm going to use a new to me Morrisson 50# @ 29" and try to stick with it all season. If I get lucky early I know I will switch to a long bow, A Keith Deiters bbo or a Northern Mist or maybe a Great Northern Bush bow all 50-52# @ 29".
