Title: yea, I think I'm gonna like this one (new to me BW PMA II)
Post by: hickstick on August 31, 2009, 10:52:00 PM
I bought a used Black Widow PMA II greybark from a fine gentleman in Oregon off the classifieds here last week.   This is the first 'shop' bow I've ever bought...other others were either made by friends or by my feeble hands.

anyway, it arrived at work today, and it was all I could do to manage to get some work done cause all I wanted to do was get home and string it up.  I got home a 7pm and the wife and daughter were out...perfect!  strung it up and took a few test shots with the arrows from my old bow. not the best flight with every arrow but it looks like it'll work  :)

Congrats, I've got one also and it shoots perfect. Once you get those arrows tuned, you'll really love the way that bow shoots!      :clapper:

yea, I think so too...the string serving is a lot fatter than I normally use so I suspect tight nocks conributed at bit to some of the flight problems.
I also need to get a bow quiver on it and see how that effects them too.

hoping not to have to make too many adjustments this close to the season (CT starts on the 15th).

I have the PSA II and I have to say, those Black Widows are all they are cracked up to be. Mine fits my hand perfectly and shoots fast and quiet without any handshock that I can perceive. They are cut past center and usually very tuneable to various spined shafts.

Enjoy!

was please to see the weight on the limbs was dead on (at least according to my scale) too.  56 @ 28 and I usually draw 27 and it was around 54 on my hand held scale.

I may have to see about picking up some shorter/slightly heavier limbs in the future ...

does anyone know what the numbers mean  that are on the end of the limb where it meets the riser (and the number on the riser where the limbs meet it)?   I think they were 2 digits over three smaller digits?   just curious...

Hey hickstick I'm pretty sure those first two digits are the year it was made and the next set of digits are the serial number.

Your bow looks just like my MA-II and not the PMA-II's. I don't see the black phenolic in the riser section of the limbs and the shelf doesn't have the extended radius.

My MA-II was made in 1997, when was your PMA-II made?

GOOD SHOOTING!

I kinda figured that slufoot.   if so I think the riser is '96 and the limbs (which I knew were not the original set with the riser as part of the sale) look like '91.

thanks I didn't really know the diff between the PMA and MA...
