Does anyone know the best time for tythe ohio rut?
Usually first 2 weeks of november.....last year in the area I hunt, the most movement was happening Nov. 3-10 as far as I could tell--course i was on vacation hunting during that time too :bigsmyl:
I'd have to say the first few weeks in november.
At the recommendation of the auto Insurance industry, The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has decided to cancel this years rut to curtail the deer heard here in ohio. In past years, the first 2 weeks (give or take 3-4 days either side) of November seem to be prime for the rut. Myself, I'd rather be in the woods the middle two weeks of October. Has anyone noticed that sometimes the last week in October, the woods can go flat dead for deer movement?
yes the deer movement slows right befor the rut and again right after the does are bred, biologist say the does and yearlings are tired of being chased so they try to avoid coming into contact with any bucks and actually hide. they call it the lull.
I go back to my home state of Ohio every fall, and I look forward to the first 10 days of November. I don't think you can go wrong hunting the first two weeks of November.
Yes the first 2 weeks in november. But my favorite time is the first week and a half of season the big bucks that we watch all summer make lots of mistakes.
And l.b.ben is planning on being right there when the mistakes happen!!
