Introducing the Maddog "Mutt", like it's namesake; the mutt isn't a purebred, it's made from scraps that are left from making other bows. But it's reliable, sturdy, and non temperamental but at the same time it won't win any beauty pageants. Purchasing one won't break the bank either.

It all started in the name of recycling, conservation and good stewardship of resources. One day I noticed a big stack of ½" wide fiberglass accumulating in the corner of my shop. I only buy 2" wide fiberglass and that leaves me with two ½" wide scraps every time I made a longbow, or full sized recurve. Not wanting to have these end up in the landfill; I devised a way to edge glue them into one 1" wide strip and consequently glue them up into a longbow, hence the "mutt" longbow came to be.

Available in deflex/reflex, or a flat limbed design, (shown) the Maddog Mutt is thin and sleek, comfortable to hold and a pleasure to shoot; 1" wide tapering down to about 3/8" tips. But like I mentioned earlier it's not a work of art by any means. The glue line on the fiberglass is hardly noticeable but can be detected in the right light, the riser is made of various scraps of wood and they don't all necessarily compliment one another; the Mutt is unique to say the least.

The Mutt isn't available by custom order but I'll keep some glued up blanks on hand. The lengths are from 64" – 68", the weight from 40# @ 28" to 55# @ 28", You can choose deflex/reflex or flat, right or left handed, but as for riser wood and glass color it's up to what I have on hand. It might have brown on the back and clear on the belly, or brown on the lower and black on the top limb. Regardless you have the only one like it and it won't let you down. If you twist my arm I'll even put some tip overlays on it.
The one shown is 66" long, 53# @ 28", and the riser is made from scraps of purple heart, osage orange, and ash, limbs are, 1 lamination of maple and 2 of bamboo with black glass.
Good job of recycling Mike!
Thanks, not kidding here, If I still have this bow next week I'll hunt with it over anything else I shoot.
Mike, PM me with the cost of the Mutt.
Thanks, AA
I love it - the concept just rocks in my book.
Great job Mike!
I've been Looking at some of your bows and like what I'm seeing.
Plan on ordering one in the future when mama gets over me ordering the last custom bow I'm waiting on.
As far as that mutt... perdy bows don't kill critters good shooting ones do
I'd be interested in a price too. Thanks.
I posted the same thing in the sponsor's classified with the price for those intrested.
What I plan on doing is everytime I have some left over epoxy from some glue - ups I'll get more of these made. I've gotten lots of questions about these bows. I didn't think there'd be much intrest in them.
If the Mutt shoots as well as the one you repaired for me....OMG!
Foxchef, was yours that Herters I fixed? The one I have pictured my my bow repair page?
great deal!
