I received permission to hunt and fish on a piece of land today high up in the Green Mountains. Another fellow has had sole access to this property for five years and has killed several nice bucks on it. He has never once shared any meat with the landowners wife who loves venison (he's a vegetarian). I didn't know about their parcel until this week, but have given her venison through my wife(they work at school together) for years. I was invited up to help with some blueberry picking today and to look around. After arrival I was told the place is mine to hunt alone now. WOW! They raise blueberries, bees and have an orchard(he wants me to kill a bear also as for he killed a 450# boar last year that destroyed some of his hives and he has a dislike for bears on his deck also). Look at the pics and I think you'll understand my excitement.
Like I asked, do you share? You never know when karma will bring it back around to you!
The view.

Yes I do.
I share with fols who do AND don't let me hunt their property. Because I want to....AND because.....ya never know.
Good luck on your new grounds.
Holy Motherload!!! Congrats
Looks like you got yourself a real good area there Dave.
That second pic with the spruce trees is green overload... :D
Are those pics from today? It looks like spring time.
Set up by the Pears if there still there in the season.........
The pics were from today. A lot of rain this year and everything is real green up there.
Holy cow looks like you struck it rich there! I've never had opportunity to share with landowners as I've almost always hunted my own land, but I do share venison with others.
Great looking property!
Well deserved Vermonster! Congrats.
Can you say
'Honey' hole!!
We should be seeing some big buck pics from you soon!Beautiful
countryside Dave.
A piece of pear-adise.Have fun there pal.
Green,,, and beautiful.. Yes, we want pics throughout this season.

Forgot to add that I do share. I already have a "list" of people that have asked for deer meat and or some of my deer jerky. This year I am going to make the effort to kill extra deer for those who have asked me for meat. Why not? I love to bowhunt and doe tags (unlimited number) are only $7. The jerky never lasts very long.. LOL

Roger the fellow who owns the land use to shoot a recurve years ago and asked me to stop by his shop. One of his customers gave him an old recurve and he wants me to take a look at it because he thinks it has a twisted limb and needs a string. I told him I'd fix him up. His wife is also interested in learning to shoot a bow. I brought a 40@28 with me today but she needs lighter. She asked me to show her how to dress a deer when I kill one on their property. She is serious about learning. It just got better and better today.
JACKPOT!!!
Great thunder!!! Very nice indeed. Thanks for all the help you've given us newbies, even us old ones. Well deserved my friend.
Fred
It must be Karma...for all the good you've done here.
Congrats Dave! Can't think of a better person for that to happen too. I'm a firm believer that generosity pays.  :clapper:
David,
You have more karma hanging around on you than just about anybody I know. No one deserves a little payback more than you do. Enjoy it fully my friend. I have this feeling the land owners are about to receive more than they are giving! They sure picked the right guy. It's like leaving milk and cookies for Santa Claus. :notworthy:

Dave, Congratulations. That's great - and it's good to see that sometimes good deeds do go unpunished.
WOW that place is GREEN!
Talk about a "Honey Hole" for hunting! ;) Congrats, and it is well deserved!
And to answer your question, yes, I usually have a couple my deer processed so it's cut and packaged nicely (close to store bought cuts, rather than my own...). I share that with friends and family all the time. Hasn't played out to the degree yours has as of yet, but it puts a smile on my face, and in some cases warms my heart.
All the best brother!

One of the first lessons my dad taught. Give back not only to those who have given but to those in need. Until last year I had a habit of filling my freezer so sharing was much easier. Things in WI were a little light on Venison. I can't wait for fall.
Beautiful place Dave.
Good luck with it!
The old saying, "What goes around comes around." works both ways. I'm sure you will appreciate the opportunity and their generosity and new friendship.
I always share meat with landowners when I can. Your country side looks awesome. it sure doesn't look like northern Mn. Chad
Dave,
Congratulations on your new hunting property. Sometimes, selfless acts of giving are rewarded with tangible blessings, it couldn't have happened to a more deserving person.
To answer your question, yes I do share with all the people whose property I hunt. Probably most important is the amount of work I do around their property during the year, especially during the hunting, as well as the off season. On more then one occasion I have arrived at the ranch to go hunting and spent he evening fixing something around one of the ranches instead of sitting a tree stand.
Glad to see good things still happen to great people...
:clapper:
It's a shame you have to live in a place like that.
Hey Dave when's a good time to come up!!?? LOL! Yes SHARE ,SHARE,SHARE!
ALWAYS SHARE!! With as many people as you can!
I still have some venison in the freezer of which 72 people have eaten from so far. Be it a steak or a bowl of stew with one or two pieces in it, all those people share that flesh and communion in common. It's a holy act which I feel blessed to participate in.
I have found over the years that hearts soften to the notion of hunting after folks hear of the magic I witness. A full belly of God's mojo from the field (prepared with love) and most will stop arguing with you altogether. Some will even invite you to their land or turn you on to land they know of or have access to. The stingy work hard in this life to feel abundance. It holds truer in no other practice like it does in hunting. That being said, it is no surprise to me that Vermonster had this come to him. A great man as many here will attest to.
Way to go Dave! I use to hunt on a farm and brought turkey and ham at the holidays because they had plenty of venison. Now I share my venison with my students and their families.
Very nice Dave! and well deserved, I might add! I always offer to share with the landowner but they always decline. Good luck this season...
way to go Big Dave!!!! :clapper: :clapper:
David that place is like how I hope heaven is. I'm glad to see the good stuff going to you. Btw yes, I share meat with whoever asks for it, whoever I think can use some, and for sure, if a land owner let me hunt on his/her land. But there's so much public land here in Idaho I never have to find private land to hunt. It don't look like that though.
Nice piece of ground. Orchards / bees and bears dont mix anywhere!!!
YES, I always share. Friends and family and through FHFH too.
It is a beautiful place. Biggie this is one of those "just being there" kind of spots. ;)
Doesn't hurt to have deer, bear and moose all over though.
By gum, it DOES roll downhill!
Goodness, that is. Bask in it Dave, and rejoice in the grand circles of life. Nice to see the good guys win every now and then.
Killdeer :clapper:
congrats  :clapper:
Good for you Dave, you've certainly done more than your share for others.....
David
You reap what you sow. Congrats Dave.
I would just lay down an roll in that green for about fifteen minutes 8^). Good for your.
That is great, Dave!!!!
I only have 1 private property that I hunt and they don't want venison. the landowner shoots several with damage permits and often lets them lay if he can't get a hold of me or anyone else.
However, we deliver a big box of home-made Christmas cookies and candy --- and that seems to fit the bill nicely!!
if thats what heaven looks like
lord take me now
yes i do share just wish i could share with more
Congrats, what a setup!
I have a similar situation that was afforded me about 3 years ago. It is a 40 acre stretch up in North Texas about 10 miles West of the Hagerman NWR. It is a pass through area and I have yet to take a Deer on it. I haven't been on this site too much lately because I brought my wife up to Alaska to see the grandeur and then when I came back, I have been busy putting in a food plot on the property. Lucky me, my wife has been helping me.
There are some nice deer up there and I would love to harvest one. Its not everyday you find a free place to hunt in Texas! The first one I harvest, all the venison will go to the landowners, and I will share it from then on. They've never had venison before.
Wow, what a beautiful place. If the hunting is as good as the scenery it ought to be great.
I would gladly give someone venison for a place to hunt. As it is I only have public land, but I still share my harvests with friends, family and co workers. It's a blessing to have plenty.
Could it get any better than that? Good for you!
Yes I do and would love to give more if I could find more folks in my area to give to . Anyone in my area knows of someone wanting or needing the meat please let me know . Most years me and my Dad kill enough for his family and mine and then we let alot of deer walk and only take a nice buck so alot of does are starting to over populate our land . There are ALOT of deer hunters in our area so most folks just dont need the meat but I still would like to help if I can and also take out a few does this year.
Mike
