can you recommend a carbon arrow that i could get to spec as approx
*spine for a 54# Hill style bow w/ fast flight string
*cut to 28"/28 .5"
*load with 290/300gn up front
*cut shorter than 28.5"
*weigh no less than 580gn's
is there one available that would fit this bill?
anyone have experience using carbons with Hill style bows? I'm usually a wooden arrow man but have a trip planned for the US next year and want a set of carbons to try as possibly my primary shooters or poss back up arrows?
any assistance appreciated
cheers

My experience with carbon on my Hill's is to forget about the finished length.Same goes with carbons for my other longbows.Carbons do not come in as many different spines as wood or aluminum.Trying to get a carbon at a specific length is a hit or miss. For me the finished length of a carbon arrow is dictated by bareshaft tuning with the weight of the head I plan to shoot.I would think maybe a .400 spine carbon with 280-300 grs. up front would be a good choice to start with.Start full length and trim and tune from there.
Easton/Beeman 500's, Carbon Express 150's, Even with Extreme FOC, stiffer shafts will not be needed, even with 29" draw and especially not when cut as short as you are looking to go.
Try Easton Full Metal Jackets, 400 spine. If the spine shows weak, put a weight tube into it. With Axis arrows, the weight tube will decrease the spine making it perform between a 340 and 400, plus is will add SERIOUS weight : )
