On the way home from the grocery store my girlfriend, Lexi, and I spotted 5 little hogs feeding next to a dry ditch, we drove home and I got my bow and 4 arrows, loaded the kids and returned to the area.
The hogs had moved down into the bottom of the ditch in a head high jungle of Johnson grass and Nettles. They were quite busy feeding and I took my first shot at about 15 yards, looked to be a good hit with a loud squeal from the hog. I moved down the ditch and located the rest of the hogs and was able to get a couple more shots off as they regrouped and started trotting down the ditch.
I got down in the ditch and followed and got back on them within 100 yards. Made another good hit...then my son, Cal, and I started following the blood and finding the shot ones. One ran up and expired on the patio of a barber shop, the girls came out to see what was going on as we hauled the pig off. They seemed rather amused at the sight of a grown man running around with a bow chasing pigs.
The bow is "Little Budda" a Osage self bow I traded for at OJAM, made by Brad Merkel, Little Tree. It's a silent killer.

AWESOME
I love it, my friend, especially the Osage Bow sharing the great "little hunt" that became a "BIG HUNT" with you. Great job on the hunt and the reporting/pictortal, wish I'd been with you, if I never even got a shot in. I'm getting my hat right now and heading for Texas with my Osage bow :wavey:
Great shooting! What arrows and broadheads out of that bow?
BTW, Chuck, that's some "extra" growth you've cultivated on your "musn't-touch-it"!
Come on over Bernie, it's been way to long since we shared a campfire ! Feral hog numbers are way up and rapidly increasing here. Up until about a year ago there was a market for live trapped hogs, I believe they were being processed for the European market. That has shut down and the farmers and ranchers are being overran.
bentpole, Sitka spruce with 190 Tuskers. My first kills with the tuskers, they are great broadheads, but I think I prefer WenselWoodsmans.
Funny story!
Great shooting...congratulations!
PORK!! it's what's for dinner. :clapper:
:bigsmyl:
I KNOW there just have to be some leftovers!
Killdeer :bigsmyl:

Imagine that huh Bernie. :biglaugh:
After mesquite smoking and boning out we had 17 lbs of meat. It goes into many dishes well...hashbrows, rice and beans and so forth.
Bring some lemonade n come on Dano...better hurry though
Oh Man!! Thanks for the invite, but I know buy the time I got there Cal and Oakley would have that devoured. Awefull tempting my friend.
I'm impressed to no end. 3 pigs at once.
Well heck Dano, I got 28K plus acres that will be open for the 2 weeks prior to OJAM....maybe ya ought to come down here on the way...
We will be talkin. ;)
That sounds like real mischief in the making - look out piggies ;)
Bernie, Reckon we might need you n Kathy to come down and keep us youngun's outta' trouble...
Oh Lord, that'd be a happening, now wouldn't it. Sure would be a nice gathering for the "remembry book" though.
If they are the three little pigs you must be the big bad wolf, nice shooting and enjoy.
Close, wb, but Chuck is actually "the big good ol' wolf" :jumper:
