Title: Useable Woodsman ?
Post by: Last of the Breed on August 26, 2009, 03:11:00 PM
Well out praticing one day and just happened tp miss the target and hit a big rock with my WW, broke the tip off and thought about making a small game head out of it.  Well this is what I came up with.

Well with the "new" head I for some reason hit the same rock and it really didnt make a dent.  Do you think this would be "usable" for deer?  If correctly sharpened??

Thanks

If you can get it sharp it will kill a deer. Probably not my first choice but capable I would say yes.

No its not that I need, just could it be used.  Or with such a big area up front could it reduce penatration to much?  I really never thought about using it, just found it again and it made me think.

Only problem I see is that most of the copper brazing that is in the original tip is now gone. Could come apart maybe since the three blades are not brazed together enough in the front ? JMHO

I like woodsmans for small game heads because they blow threw rabbits lunds fast and they drop quick.  Ground hawgs too.

If it's sharp, I think it'd be fine, especially if backed by a heavy arrow.  A little more of 'Tanto' tip than I'd prefer, but...

The tip would surely slow it down....hard to say how much.  I'd keep it for small game and sharpen a fresh one up for your next deer.....

Gotcha, now I see. At first glance they looked like house cats, LOL
