Title: Arrow--Where to start?
Post by: 1Longbow on August 24, 2009, 10:32:00 PM
I have a 55# recurve (64") I draw 29"'s and I could use some help on what shaft size to start with. I'd like to use aluminum, but I'm not opposed to carbon either. I'd like to use 125- 150 grain heads, but your suggestions and knowledge would be very much appreciated. Thank you for your help--1Longbow

2117 or 23xx (I forget what the standard 23 shaft thickness is) should be a good starting point. Start with them long and shorten 1/4" at a time till they fly right.

2018 strong durable shaft. smaller diameter and thicker wall compared to the 2315. Both pluses IMHO.

2018 or 2117 would be my first choice.

2018 cut to 30 in. with 125 grain tip should work perfect .
