Just checking to see how many are heading to Maine to hunt bear. My brother and I will be hunting with Eldon Jandreau (Hunters Point Guide Service) the second week of the season. This will be my second time hunting with Eldon. He puts on a great hunt. I can't wait. God bless, Scott.
I think the Langer boys will be up there too...Doc
Eldons the best in Maine.
My wife Laura and I will be up the third week.
Here's my favorite picture of my bride. That is Eldon with her and her first bowkill from about 3 seasons ago.

You won't meet a nicer guy! Eldon & Jimmy Domont are tops in my book.
I hear Scott is looking for a big bear this time up
The Langers will be heading up at the end of this coming week. They have a couple guest they will be filming and hunting themselves.
I'll be up that way for the third week along with some other WV friends. Scott, sure wish we could have made it the same week! This will be my fourth hunt with Eldon and I cannot imagine how anybody could offer a better experience. He has been a great guy to deal with in every way over the years I have known and hunted with him.....Dave
I meet him back in 1991, 1992 i think he was state champion long bow shooter that year.Been a long time very nice guy.Have a great trip DONT FORGET THE THERMOCILE. :archer:
Dave: It will be good to finally meet you since we will be there the same week. It seems that over the past several years we must have passed each other on the Maine Tpke.
Longbowben: You are so right about the Thermacells. Almost as important as your archery gear.
Here's another pic. It's Marty Macmahon, Eldon and one of Marty's friends, Daniel, who shot his first bear. Can't remember Dan's last name but he was a great kid (about 21 or so). It's funny how Eldon almost always gets in the picture.

That young fella is Daniel Widdick- he is now my son-in-law! Still waiting for that Bear Rug from that year! Hope it comes soon, poor guy. Have fun with Eldon.
he DOES always seem to get in the picture, eh?

Marty: That's nice to have Dan for a son-in-law. Laura thought he was a "really nice" guy, as did I. Actually you were all rather nice to be around that week. Hope you all have a good season.
Back at ya Bill, it already started off well!! Best of luck with Eldon.
I'll be up the last week. I've been hearing from my guide that the blackberries are off and the bears are sturring. This will be my second trip, took my first bear last year.
The word earlier on from Eldon was that the natural food supply is minimal this year. That typically translates into good hunting over the baits. Laura and I have not yet taken a bear on the same trip. We are hoping for a "twofer" this year.
I have faith in you two....Git 'er done!
how big does a bear have to be to make a pair of gloves out of him????
OOOH I know that one!! Shot a hundred pounder- OK- 2 one hundred pounders on a trip with Biggie and the Wensel's- they said my skins would make a good toilet seat covet and the skulls were a nice set of ear rings! Does that help?
Eldon is a great guy. Tell him John from kansas City says hello. A word of caution, if you miss a shot hold onto your shirt,it may end up with out it's tail.Never know what the bears will be eating.Eldon puts up nice stands because he is a trad hunter and knows what he is doing.
David,I'm glad to see you made it back in one piece. I also wish we were hunting the same week. Maybe next time. I was also hoping to meet Bill and Laura. I remember Bill posting that picture of Laura the year she killed that bear. I talked with Eldon on Tuesday and he told me the same. Little natural food and the bears are hammering the baits. Don't pay any attention to that troll Earl Jeff (He is my brother). You should have seen some of the deer he has killed. I would have taken pictures but my camera at the time did not have a zoom lens. Good hunting and God bless, Scott.
Does This guy only do bow hunts. My 13 year old daughter wants to kill a bear but she only hunts with a gun. I want to take her but I have to go somewhere that she can gun hunt and I can bow hunt. Looking forward to it but need to find a good guide for both at the same time.
kctreeman: I have a number of shirtails on the wall from earlier hunts. I always bring on old one just in case so that they don't ruin any more of my nice shirts.
Eldon prefers bowhunters but he will guide anyone with legal weapons. He is especially happy to see kids take bears. One year we had a 10 year old get his first bear with his dad's rifle. He'll go out of his way to make everyone comfortable.
Childern hunt for free with Eldon. 16 and under
How do I get ahold of this Fella to schedule a hunt?
