Headed to the Swamp with my Good Buddy John this morning. We both had Honeydo`s to get done and had to be home by lunch so we decided to leave the boat and make a short Morning hunt on foot.
We left the Truck at the crack of Daylight and headed in.After about a half mile we split up and decided to meet near at the River. I went a little ways down the access trail and saw sign of some other fellers ahead of me...

After a bit farther down the road I cut through the swamp on a bearing that would put me down wind of a honey hole and the place John and I were to meet.Ran across a "trapper" along the way

When I reached the River I owl`d for Old John and in a few minutes we were standing at the edge of one fine River Thanking the Good Lord for this morning...

We rested a bit and headed towards the "hole".
Just like it was supposed to the sign picked up when we got to and old swamp road closed on both ends. (http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w39/rcswampbucket/IMG_0547.jpg)
Went a touch farther and heard some limbs crack.....
and then......?
Spotted some pork up ahead headed to my right. They were feeding kinda fast and I new I would never get to them quietly so I made a loop ahead of them and waited behind a huge Tupelo Tree. Took about 3 minutes.Pigs came across in front of me and I put the sneak on a few yards forward and heard the arrow make a loud crack! The pig ran into the palmettos and all was quiet...

After about a 50 yard snufferized blood trail there lay a fine grill pig.

My first critter since I had eye surgery. The Lord has Blessed me.
Only a mile and a quarter from the truck so out came the meat sack and in a few minutes the pig was boned out and in the backpack.

Nice white oak...you could probably kill more pigs than deer under that tree.
Sent an e-mail to swampfox@cybers... & got it back "invalid address".
I envy you sometimes RC! What weight are you shooting (bow, arrow, Snuffer)? Inquiring minds want to know. Well, I do :biglaugh:
RC, Is that a tupelo tree he's leaning on? I used to buy a lot of tupelo for duck decoys but I've never seen one. Great shot on the pig. Greg

Thanks Guys. Owlbait I shoot 48 lbs at 27. Probably around 540 grains arrow weight. I will probably go to my Magnus I heads out of the tree stand come Sept for those close downward shots on deer.
GreggD , thats an old cypress tree Brother Johns beside. The one behind it is a tupelo.
Mike, those are just regular nocks that came with my goldtips. Thats my arrow wrap pieces glowing. I cut a small strip and wrap all my arrows.RC
Neat!!!
Thanks for sharing your hunt with us RC...I always enjoy your posts....I've got a new PL that I hope to make meat with in a month or so...It's also good to see someone slowing down and enjoying what the Lord has created for us....
Good going RC. I've never got to hunt those piggies. Maybe someday before I get old 8^). Nice shooting.
