This will be my first year to hunt with a stick bow. My bows i will be hunting with are 62-64 inches so im wondering what would be a good way to carry them to and from my hunting area. My bow will be a 3 piece so do i wait till i get off my 4-wheeler then put it together or just leave it put together. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
I carry mine in a soft case unstrung. Although, sometimes if it's cold, I leave it strung in the case.
Throw it on the back seat of the truck. Strung of course.
Cased would be a good idea, just to protect it. I like to leave mine strung and I have a Kathy Kelly strung bow case just for that. States vary as to the legality of carrying bows. In IL, the bow must be cased, unstrung or otherwise rendered inoperable to be carried in/on any motorized vehicle.
passenger seat...strung
Joevan, I assume you are talking about carrying it from the truck to you stand location. I usually put mine in the bow rack on the front of the 4-wheeler and go. This requires that you have a wide enough trail so it doesn't catch on limbs, etc. If this is not an option, you could strap it to the front and rear rack so that it rides parallel to the 4-wheeler rather than perpendicular. Make sense?
you could always walk and carry it in your hand? :)
(just kidding)
Bowsock always.
My longbow travels unstrung and in a bowsock.
When I was shooting a recurve, I left it strung and just placed it carefully in the back of the SUV (like my son does with his).
I string mine at home, with bow quiver attached ready to hunt. Bought a soft sided, camo, bow case from Black Widow. Use elastic cords to secure on my front rack on the 4-wheeler and up the hill we go. I have about a two mile ride, park and retrive bow and walk the last half mile in.
I like pseman put mine in the gun rack except I have one mounted that face forward, thus the bow is always in line with myself. You don't need a wide path, but you do need to be careful if you take a sharp turn.
I have a car seat especially made for mine.
Strung in a softcase. Recurve or Longbow

Bow box!
What Fletch said is hard to beat.Kathy Kelly strung recurve case that accomidates a quiver attached to the bow.I assume you use a bowquiver but maybe not.

cabela's has these Vista bow cases for $60 holds a recurve or longbow with the quiver attatched and the bow strung. I really like mine alot.
I lay mine on a sleeping bag in the back of my Silverado. Cushy ride for the old girl. I don't want to ride a 4 wheeler anywhere close to where I'm hunting...I want as much silence as possible there.
I put mine in the back of my Jeep on top of my soft jacket. If I am going close to home I string it at home. If I am going real far, I string it up when I get where I am going.
The season is getting very close -- Oh Boy!
