could be the wax on your string definatly!

Or it could be the limb pocket....

Clean off a little bowstring wax where string  contacts the bow at rest.   Also, try using some wax in the limb pockets by chance it might be the limb butts moving against the riser.

I find the limb pockets just need a good cleaning.  Joe

You can put a little of the black mole-skin or felt material 3 rivers sells.  It is adhesive backed and really easy to put on and trim up.  Nothing to it, but I'd say that is definately where the creak is coming from.  I've had the same problem in the past.  I think it makes the bow a tiny bit quieter as well.

If I were to draw in the woods today every squirrel for three miles would be pointing at me.

I will clean it up and see what three rivers has for moleskin.

For a TD if the bolt is rubbing the hole in the limb that will make some creaking. You can usually tell if theres some thread marks on the inside of the limb riser bolt hole.  A rat tail file or chain saw file and a little super glue would fix it IF thats the case.

I had a bow like that...still have it. It turned out that the mounting studs in the riser were press fitted and one of them was loose. I pulled them out, epoxied them and the problem was solved.

I have been down this road. Try putting a piece of heavy adhesive tape(the kind you would use for mailing a package)across the string groove on both limbs, the first couple of shots will tell you if its the wax on the string or not. Try putting two pieces of wax paper between the limbs and the riser and see if that stops the noise. Moleskin can sometimes be too thick for some bows and will interfere with the pins and alignment.

Just wanted to pass along something I was told about this by Black Widow. Whatever you do don't put material between the limbs. If it doesn't cause a binding problem it tends to hold moisture and can cause problems from that. I was told to just clean the areas then wax them and the problem should clear up. That worked for me.

try a smear of vaseline on the string loops. my recurve sometimes squeaks, this solves it for me.

A plastic gasket will work perfect between the limbs and riser. Hint you have them in you fridge called a "milk jug". They are thin and tough also moister resistant. Your noise will be gone and your bow will shoot the same. Not my idea a good buddy
and custom bowyer taught me this.

I had a noise something like that with a one piece recurve. Here the noise came from the rubber tip protector on the bottom limb. When i pulled back the string, the rubber was streaching because i had it slid over the string loop a little.I trimmed the rubber till it just reached the string groove. That solved the problem.

I use plumbers tape in the limb pocket. It is cheap, thin and seems to work good.

my creaking was due to wax build up between string and limb

If it turns out to be wax buidup from your string I would suggest bow hush. Way better than moleskin IMO.

Tighten the limb bolt completely..worked for me.
