I realize there are a lot of people who have and are facing very serious times. A lot have had to sacrafice even their beloved bows just to put food on the Table. :scared: :readit: :wavey:
A fine gesture Gene.... :campfire:
Very nice indeed!! :notworthy:
Mr. Carroll, that is awesome! :notworthy:
Thats a nice thing to do
You're a good man. I sure hope you don't get burned.
I will join the fray. I don't have anything fancy, but I have a straight limbed longbow I made twenty years ago. It's 57# at 28", 68" long, limbs that slightly follow the string, but it's realiable and shoots where you look. It's homely, has innertube on the handle riser, but has taken ove a dozen groundhogs and a few gray squirrels. Just give me an address, and be sure you can handle a 57#, straight limb longbow.
Here it is....jacket not included.

Here's a big thumbs up!

Gene and George have big hearts and are a couple of gems.
Their generosity seems unlimited.
Gene & George:
Your generosity is overwhelming! The best I have to offer is a 67# custom Bighorn recurve. I wish it was a lighter weight. e-mail me if you are in need of a bow for the season that is this heavy.
Once again, Gene and George, you guys are tops!
Tom

Who said goodness was a thing of the past.
Blessings to you for your generous heart.

THE ESSENCE OF TRAD GANG. WELL DONE, GENTLEMEN!
If anyone has the need for a short and light draw weight bow, I have one to throw in the pile also. G&L Mantis, 56" hybrid, marked 40# @25". Will pull to 27" with no problem.
Barry
All three of Gene's bows are very nice. Great gesture Gene.
I have a feeling we may need someone to hold them for selection. Ideas?
If anyone wants to be a "clearinghouse" for the loaners, I've got a couple of bows, longbows and recurves, 52" to 60" and 50 to 65#, I'd add to the list.
Guys, I'm not really into the "Clearing House" thing. I would prefer to personally send my bows to those people who may be in need of one of them. I think it's great that George and others have joined in on this idea.
It was said" I hope you don't get burned". Me too... but the offer is still there. I have only been burnt once. Luckily, even that one time came to a good conclusion and I got my bow back. :wavey:
I'm with you guys. Just picked up a perfect condition SAIII but that didn't get me as excited as seeing my little brothers face when I gave him my MAII.
Hey Gentleman, equipment is great, but as a former unemployed hunter, Being legal as in Licensed to hunt for food for my family is important, also. Don't forget this!
Hunters for the Hungry is a great thing, But for the hunter that has a place to hunt, and the equip., still needs a legal piece of paper to do so to provide for his family! I can grow a garden, without any state help, But to put meat on the table, with the hunting process, the gov has their hand out! Please remember this! Good shootin, Steve
Very nice indeed. You gentlemen are very generous.
Hey LE I have plenty of bows but if you would just loan me your Dakota til about the first of December that would be nice as I have always wanted to try one. LOL.
John
L.E.,
I wasn't trying to take over your idea or take the personal touch out of it. Maybe I didn't express myself very well. My intent was to suggest a point of contact for anyone to request a bow and to have the POC refer them to whomever had the bow that best met their needs. It would still be a one on one deal-the bow owner dealing directly with the person requesting the bow.
:clapper: :clapper:

You guys are great! That's why I love this site and proud too call all of you, Friend!!  :clapper:

That would work for me... I was thinking you ment something like a Library... where you checked one out. Or placed an order for one. :knothead:
Gene :wavey:
As far as help with buying tags and lisence for those needing help.... I'm sorry but in my case I'm retired and funds are limited.
I'm more than willing to help with a bow as they are all paid for and just being neglected on the bow rack :readit: :help:
Gene :wavey:
outstanding. :clapper:
Gene, what a wonderful idea that got me to thinking; I have a couple of bows that I know are not going to be leaving the house this hunting season (thanks to a new Old Mahoning Hybrid t/d longbow that I just can't put down).
#45 one-piece longbow with reflex/deflex limbs
#47 Ancient Spirits Thunderhawk t/d recurve
I'll even throw in some GT3555 so you are ready to go.
PM me if anyone interested and we'll make arrangements. I may be overly trusting but I figger if you're a Trad Ganger, that's good enough for me.
Scott
Like L.E., we are on a fixed income as well, but I have the equipment to loan, or even give to a needy person. I know there are folks struggling, and some will not come forward due to pride. But if you e-mail or PM me, it will be confidential if that's what you want as far as getting the bow.
Like L.E. and George, I am also retired (in 10 days), but I have a few of bows I'd loan. I've been thru the pride thing-and gotten over it, I was on food stamps when I was stationed in Denver in 1971, subsidized lunches at school for the kids, etc., pretty much been there done that. I will gladly loan a bow to a fellow Trad Ganger, genuinely between you and me, not Connie Chung style. I've got a 52" 65@28 recurve, a 58" 55@28 recurve, a 58" 60@27 longbow, a 64" 60@27 longbow, and a few others.
PM me.

I'll get in on this one. I've been through three Corporate downsizings in the last year and a half and I'm still standing, thank God.
I'll loan a Bear Custom Kodiak Takedown for the fall season to a fellow Tradganger. 60" 45@28. Pay shipping your way and promise to send it back to me in December in the same condition you received it. OK if there's a little blood on it!!!
PM me.
Mike

It is this site, the members in it, and the freindship and trust we share that has enabled me to pick up a 68 Super K and a 67 1/2 Super K the past few months that while not perfect, were FAR less than I ever dreamed.
This was in spite of the fact that I was injured at work, terminated over it, live in pain, in the middle of a legal/work comp/ EEOC MESS with VERY little income and no insurance or medical help (yet). yeah, I've eaten a LOT of baloney this summer!
I've some bear Razorheads, and a half dozen custom woodies that will knock your eyes out spined for several of the bows being offered.
55-60lb, 30 inches long, dipped, crested and TRIPLE sliced right wing helical.
I also have a half dozen full length, doug fir arrows RW fletched with REAL wild turkey feathers, also crested spined for 80-85 available.
You gentlemen handling the "Trad bow loan of 2009" (for I FULLY expect that you have started a TRADiton here and God Bless you for it), are hereby requested to consider these arrows for a possible match for one of your bows and the shooter's draw length and find out if the recipient of the bow needs them and contact me.
I'll stick some photos of them in here tomorrow.
These gentlemen are loaning out precious items to us trad hunters. Those of you with extra arrows???? I invite to join in.
We are nothing if not here for each other.
God bless!
Good on you L.E.
Every thing in this pic came from my Tradgang brothers, after all my hunting gear got ripped off.
Tradgang brothers rock
I agree with what George said about pride, and if anyone wants to use the bow I offered, it will be between you and me and the fence post.
Barry
i sure could use a centaur for this elk season
:help: will work for centaur....lol........good job guys...let me know if i can help
Well, my Doug Knight "King" is going to see a workout this fall :smileystooges: :knothead:
4000+ acres pretty much to our selves and ohhhh so many deer :wavey:
LE, George, Slowbouke, & others; your generosity amazes me! The best!
I would also like to announce that I have received a PM for one of my bows. The Ancient Spirits Thunderhawk is being shipped tomorrow. (See Maxflight, my office computer)
The initial contact come across as sincere and I suggested he call me. The conversation tonight convinced me to "Pass it on". There ain't a snowball's chance that this bow would have been taken off the shelf any time soon so, even if I lose this bow, which I seriously doubt, to provide the opportunity for someone to share my passion is worth it.
Thanks LE for starting this thread

What he said ^^^^
I think it is wonderful what you guys are doing, truly! Loaning out equipment to help others in time of need, you guys have allot more faith in your fellow man than I! It really dose convince me that good folks are still out there.
That's why I really don't want to do this but, what kind of a hunter gives up his only means of putting meat on the table!?! If I lost everything the last thing I would do is take away my last chance to provide food for the family by selling my hunting weapon, for me a bow! I don't know about other states but my income was low enough for several years I got all my licences for $5.00! Maybe it's different in other states but in Alaska and the upper peninsula of Michigan if you have a bow or fishing pole you have food! If not your living under a tarp in the woods and starving.
Rick, Not everyoe lives in an area where you can hunt and put meat on the table.I do get a turkey every year.Luckey to see a few deer in my stand.Licences are around $100 for archery and fishing.I would rather sell something that gives me enjoyment then to see my young son go without.
I think These guys are great for doing this.
Just a New hampsire opinion
Update: The Thunderhawk has arrived safely at it's new temporary home and is already being "tuned" to it's new shooter.
I still have a 62" #45 @ 28" longbow, reflex/deflex limbs made with gray actionwood that is available to a "good home" for the season. If anyone is interested or knows of someone deserving, PM me.
Great deal. I just lucked out and my uncle ended up giving me a longbow while I was on vacation, or I might have taken somebody up on this.
Once again, good job.
Chester
Guys....if you're interested in the Maple Monster, just let me know. Anonymity is guaranteed.
Rick....I don't worry about someone stealing a bow from me. I take that chance knowing that 99 out of every 100 guys are honest. Furthermore, I may even ask them to keep it. I made the thing and it served me for many years, and someone may think it's a real beauty....I know it shoots darned good. I won't lose a thing if I get burned, but someone may not get a chance to hunt and supply some feed for his family if I don't offer the chance. My goods are easily replaceable, and my state doesn't care whether I am rich or destitute.
My sentiments exactly George. If something I lend doesn't come back to me, my only hope is that, eventually, it will find it's way to someone who needs and appreciates it.
Guys with the current administration and all of the resulting growth in un-employment !!
I agree that this may indeed, become an "Annual Tradition" for me at least. I must say, that in my case everything worked out very well.... I'm going to try and have some more loaners again for next season. If it looks like there is a need feel free to contact me thru PM's here on TG [will be kept confidental]. I'll do what I can to help. :wavey:
Guys I need a tissue,That some of the most generous gestures. We should all move and start our own state! :notworthy: :campfire:
Wow...you guys are absolutely awesome. I think I actually may be a candidate for this if you guys are willing. I'm a 21 year old college student, and I work in a Lumberyard part time.
I know I'm a newbie on here, but I do frequent a few other forums. Just got into trad hunting and have been looking for a bow. I have some aluminums that I fletched up with some 5" feathers, but I can't find a bow yet. I'm 6'5", so I need a fairly long, lighter weight bow since I'm just getting into all this.
I've shot with training wheels for the last 4 years, so I've been told that a recurve is definitely the way to go.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I would be happy to pay shipping if one of you guys is feeling extremely generous. I promise you won't regret it. Also, I may be able to take ya out hunting here in SW IL if you'd like to make the trip out there during the season.
Thanks in advance, Jeremy
Gene,
I know a guy whose wife has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. He is having a rough go with taking care of his wife, kid and job. He could use a loaner. He is a big guy and can handle a heavy bow. He would take care of it and give it back.
My wife is a Cancer Survivor so, my thing is to help husbands deal with the "caretaker" role. The Husbands are often forgotten in the fray. All the attention goes onto the wife and the Husband is just supposed to carry forth. It tends to lend them to do a lot of drinking. I did!
Anyway, I would throw my buddy's name in the basket.
Matthew
This is an amazing place - I could give up some arrows if we get a poundage I can go through my stash and see what might work for it.
have a few spare gloves and tabs too and broadheads.
Jer Bear.

Matt
There is no "basket".... what you and your buddy need to do is look at the entire bunch of posts here... There are several guys who have joined in on this offer to help a "Brother or Sister" trad shooter who has, during these hard economic times, had to sacrifice their hunting equiptment to pay bills and put food on the table for their families.
Your friend certainly seems to "fit the bill". What you two need to do... is look at the list of equiptment available from the various guys on this post. Contact them by PM, to keep everything "confidental"... we will in turn do our best to help. :wavey:
Gene,
Thanks for spelling out how this Loan should work. It was helpful to me and anyone else that wishes to accept your generous offer or the offers by others.
Thank you!
One of the best gestures I have ever seen! You guys and gals rock!!!! :notworthy: :notworthy:
Gene is a great Guy!
Good on ya Buddy :wavey:

Bravo :clapper: :clapper:
Top notch gentleman.
A couple of fine fellows you guys are!!
Hats off to ya both!
damn.
The offer for the Custom Kodiak Takedown still stands. Extended for the 2010 season :goldtooth:
I need a 50# or more at 28" bow for my Buddy (the one whose wife has Cancer). He will take good care of it and return it. I will personally guarentee its return or buy a replacement. So, anyone got a loaner left?
