Title: Creeky/Noisy Takedown Bows?
Post by: Mount Sweetness on August 18, 2009, 10:12:00 PM
Are takedown bows just as smooth and quite to draw, or are some models known to be too creeky for hunting...?

I'm looking at a Bear Hunter Takedown in real nice shape, very similar to the one on sale on here.  Opinions on the bow?

Have never used a takedown, the last thing I want to noise on the draw.

I did have a TD bow once that I had to put strips of that adhesive felt stuff in between the limbs and riser to quiet it down.  I have had a few other TD longbows and recurves that did not need any aftermarket modification to be as quiet as a one piece.

I've had several TD bows that developed a creak while drawing.....a bit of string wax on the riser where the limbs bolt on, cured everyone one of them.
