To those who hunt with ghillie suits I have a question. I am going to purchase a Rancho Safari ghillie but can't decide if I should get it with the burlap strips or without. Any experience out there good or bad? Do the suits really work? Any info would be a great help. Thanks a bunch guys...
I use the Cabelas TLC Ghillie suit that has mesh strips that dont get mildewy when it gets wet and stays damp. It is also light weight and relativly cool in warm weather. I have the jacket and pants but I perfer to just wear the jacket portion for easier dressing and better mobility in heavy brush and briars.
Check out this suit before you buy the Rancho Safari you may like it better.
I have owned and bowhunted using a Rancho Safari ghillie for eight years. Mine is the true ghillie with burlap.. Only issue is it is heavy and too warm until later in the season. If you are wanting to sit and let the deer come to you they are perfect.
After a bit of triming on my bow arm no issues with clearance of the bowstring..
ABSOLUTELY deadly on deer!! They have looked through me at as close as 4 steps...
I had a friend who had a burlap ghillie and eventually it just rotted, according to him. Mine is the mesh and is light weight. I would go with the mesh.
i have the light weight with synthetic threads. I purchased the poncho kit. don't have to worry about the burlap smell and not that hot and heavey for early season.

Being an all natural material. I wonder if the rotting burlap might not provide a cover scent. Like decomposing grass, leaves or wood?
Just a thought
