How many take one carbon from a dozen and bareshaft it and just cut the rest.or do you bareshaft them all?
How about woodies from a matched Doz?
Carbon yes, I don't bare shaft wood.
Thats how you adjust the dynamic spine on carbons,by bareshafting them and or adding front end. They don't come in as many different spines as wood or aluminum.
I know what you're saying.....kinda calling the rest of them "good".
One thing I've learned about CX heritage shafts, though. They read a "hair" stiff, until they've been shot several times. I almost pulled my hair out this year when I bought a new dozen, already cut to my normal length. Shot 'em 30 times or so....and they were fine.
I do it. I'll bare shaft one and figure the rest are fine. Hasn't burnt me, yet.
Thats what I was asking Jeff. How about on the matched woodies..
If you KNOW the other shafts in the group are the SAME static spine, bareshafting one is enough. I wouldn't rely on the supplier's statement that all your shafts are 50-55 or whatever. Measure the spine of each shaft, then if they're 50-55 or whatever then you're good to go.
You need to check all of your wood shafts on a spine tester, and if they're all within 5 pounds, pick a couple from the middle of the range for your bare shaft testing. Feathers will take care of a little variation, but not a lot.
If i'm bareshafting by watching bareshaft flight, I only use one arrow.
But,
If i'm using the planing method (O.L. Adcock's method) then I use 3 bare, and 3 fletched shooting them all to see where the bare group in relation to the fletched.
