Can someone tell me what is done different to a recurve bow when it is made to be shot three fingers under compared to a split finger bow.

We will tiller the bow to even for three under and 3/16 positive for split.

Matt, I've 3 longbows and 1 widow tillered for 3 under. Those are tillered even, or just the width of a paper matchstick difference witht the top limb being weaker.
The 5 widows I have tillered for split finger are 1/8th difference with the top limb being the weaker one.
Which actually is all somewhat silly since by adjusting the knock point up or down you actually change the tiller

With the caveat there's a practical limit in the down direction, or you begin to get interference between the arrow and shelf. This is why some positive tiller ensures one can tune a bow for a particular archer, even if he does three under and/or heals or high wrists the bow hand.
Some bowyers will use a measure of geometry, the so called "shorter" lower limb which is actually a misnomer, but usually not on heavy risered glass bows with a distinct, cut in shelf. Rather usually selfbows where there is more freedom to position the arrow pass to fine tune the tiller and nock point position to a particular archer.
I've got some "friends" in Tennessee, an only there would they adjust the knock that far down. (Ha).
Funny thing though, on the bows "tillered" for 3 under, and the one's tillered for "split"fingered that I have the knocks on all but one are exactly at the same postition. And that one bow is getting ready to be given to someone I don't like.
I am assuming that even tiller for three under means that if I measure in from the string to where the limb meets the riser top and bottom on a T/D recurve the measurement will be equal.

Matt, they have to be just a bit unequal, if the limbs are reacting exactly the same, then handshock will result. The timing of them has to be just a fraction of a second off.
Greysquirrel I measured my bow and the measurement from the string to where the limbs meet the riser was about a sixteenth of an inch less for the bottom limb.
