Anybody use the chair from big jim's bow company? Is Squirrel Bait still making chairs? I'm going to try it on the ground again this year maybe not exclusively but quite a bit and I'm looking for a good "comfortible" hunting chair! I have tryed several folding/tripod and found none to be good on the backside!! anybody got any ideas? Thanks for the help! Jason
"Huntmore" chairs are the best I've seen, I've got two of them...

I to am with Ron. Huntmore chairs are great.. I will be getting one I hope in a few weeks...
Covey- I have a couple of the leaning chairs in stock. Half the price, 1/3 the weight and doubles as a pack frame and super comfortable. How can you beat it?
BigJim
Check out the magnus rack pack.
A good looking chair that seems to be just right for hunting.
But I make up ground blinds prior to the season and use just the green plastic chair from Walmart $5.95, and I put a tag on it that says:
please feel to use. But do not move chair as I am a physically challenged hunter with my name and address on the chairs. I made the tags up on the computer and sealed with tape etc.
So far I have about 12 chairs out all over the state lands etc and in use now for over 15 years and only have had two taken and one broken by someone. If placed on soenone land I get permission prior to making a ground blind.

I like the Double Bull Magnum Chair. It is a tripod chair BUT it has a back and is big enough for my fat butt to be comfortable in all day.
I have always liked my very simple, small fold up stool. I originally bought it for dove hunting but I use it in my pop-up blind and just about everwhere I hunt.

I bought it from Ballistic Products in MN
Just purchased a Double Bull Magnum at McAllister, OK shoot. Used the original DB for last three years. Wanted something a little bigger. Like the looks of the "Magnum" and the price was well within my budget.
I have one of the Double bull chairs too. Really appreciate the back support. Nice chair and only $24!!
I agree with the last last two...the Double Bull Magnum is great. I'm 6'3' 250, no problems. I do most of my hunting from ground blinds. I've love the huntmore, but I can't justify $200+ for a chair.
I used the Huntmore stool for turkey hunting this Spring and I loved it. I also have the DB magnum stool, but with my bum back and hip the Huntmore stool is much more comfortable.
I'm know that over the years I've spent more than $200.00 for all the others I've had. So I guess it depends on how you look at it. I was so impressed that I am now stocking them at my little archery shop that I run out of my home.
I go through at least one cheap chair a season. They sure don't last very long....
How is the huntmore chair for carring in a few miles and setting up with? Weight, ease and noise of set up? Yup 200 is alot and for all day use it may be a good buy but what about the 3hour or so evening hunt?? Where I hunt regularly its check the wind, walk in, check the wind pick a set up area and set up, changes every time I hunt the property rare to use the same place twice in a row.
I think I'm gonna get one from Big Jim! I can't think of a situation that I won't be leaning against somthing, but I set in one at cloverdale with nothing to lean on and it set just fine and was very comfortable! and I like the idea of doubleing as a pack frame! plus it seemed to be built real sturdy! cool chair! Thanks guys, Jason
I have a Double Bull chair and I recently purchased the Millenium M300 Tree Seat. It is lightweight, very comfortable and has a good price point at $69.95 retail. Below is a link to the Millenium:

Those adjustable legs on the Huntmore are what got my attention. The 360 thing too. Here in the mountains adjustable legs are a must. When sitting on the side of the mountain you always need one or two legs longer than the others. Been trying to figure how to modify my chair to do that.
The huntmore looks just awesome. But I think it is overpriced.
Man they shore e'nuff be expensive! The huntmore that is. Bought me one though cause I wanted a quiet seat with a back rest and adjustable legs and could rotate.. I like my DB magnum but this chair has more features. I had a problem with the backrest when I first got it. Scott took care of it right away. When I saw Scott at Compton's he said they made some upgrades. I had my chair with me and he upgraded it right there. Pretty good service. Guess you get what you pay for. Unfortunately, when I ordered it I thought it was made in the USA. Its not.
I second the millennium. I bought one earlier this year....camo painted it and left it outside for a month or so.
I added some GWW padded straps (didn't like the one that comes with it) and I can hardly feel it on my back.
I plan to take my first from the ground with it this fall.
Niff-T-Seat. Not the most comfortable, but it is easy to carry in a pack, on your belt or tied to a shoulder strap. Sets up quickly with little to no sound (if done right!).
Gonna make a few "Torges tree seats" this year as well, to leave in the woods.

I just looked at these at the GLLI and they are very nice. The height adjustment would be nice.

This is what I hunt with now when on the ground. It is the best I have tried for the price. Light, but strong.
I also have a Summit Trophy chair that straps on trees. It works well when you have a blind around a tree. It is nice because the tree base doesn't mess with your chair legs and you can set the height you want.

Does anyone know what the warrenty is for the Huntmore?
I think it was life time on the frame system or something like that. Maybe it was the hub. It is very well made. I don't see where you would wear out anything but the seat material.
I bought
I bought a huntmore chair and I love it. Comfortable, ajustable, travel friendly.
Do those Millenium M300 Tree Seats just sit on the ground? They look comfortable but seems like they would be too low? Please explain. Thanks...Doc
I got the DB Mag and love it.RC
Doc,
The Millenium M300 Tree Seat hangs on the side of a tree. You can set the height off the ground to whatever you want. I'll probably use mine with my ladder treestand, too, this year. That is IF I use my ladder treestand! :) I'm getting a bit older and I didn't care for heights when I was young, let alone now that I'm 60+.

Does the millennium m300 tree seat have a rachet
Does the millennium m300 tree seat have a rachet type strap to secure it to a tree and is it stable?
I'm thinking of buying one.
Thanks.
The Mfg. sells the 300 seat on the bay for $71 shipped.
The M300 has a cam buckle system for securing the strap around a tree. However, it would be very easy to incorporate a ratchet strap, just as I've always done with all of my climbing treestands.

I'm glad I found this thread because I've been looking for a new hunting chair. I've never heard of the Huntmore before but I checked it out and bought one. I've had it for a couple days now and absolutly love it!
I shot from it for hours today at the range.
It's one of those, "get what you pay for" things. It's not cheap but it's very high quality and worth the money IMO.
Anybody ever used the upper section of climbing stands? I have a lone wolf and summit climber that I think would make good seats if hunting from a ground blind around a tree.
I have been hunting off the ground for the last couple of years, maybe ten or twenty years. The most important thing in seats is the ability to turn with the game. If you can find one that turns and doesn't make any noise you are in business. I found this is especially true while turkey hunting, the ability to turn with the bird will put you in shooting position with the minimum amount of movement. It's the same with deer.

I have and also used the base to set up a couple foot off the ground in heavy cover. Works fine, but a lot more work than a chair.

That is where the Hunt More is really nice. It is solid, height adjustable, level adjustable, comfortable, and has a 360 silent smooth rotation. As stated, it is one of those you get what you pay for items. If only it had a flip up foot rest, head rest, and reclined.
Just purchased a Millenium Tree Seat, the M300. I am excited to see how comfortable it is. I am only 26, and I am in very good shape. However, for some reason I get extremely uncomfortable in most stands.
The only stand so far that has been completely 100% comfortable for me was the Tree Lounger climber, bow hunter model.
I will give a full review on this Millenium Tree seat once I get it. Been hunting from the ground more and more. I think this stand attached to a tree with some blind material around me, a bit of brush, and a ghillie suit; I should be in good shape.
Millenium Tree Seat here. Bought one last year and its the most comfortable seat I've ever used on ground level. But, I'm still looking for something that swivels and will probably take a chance and get the Huntmore
Ken
Huntmore 360 has a 16" version and the original 19" version..All I can say is from All the chairs I have ever tried I finally found the best built, quietest, adjustable, most relaxing, strongest, and if that doesn't tell ya something Scott will go beyond customer care if something gives you a problem...I bet most other company's won't take care of you after the sale but Scott will...The best investment for a bad back and you can pass this chair from generation to generation cause it's built to last for decades..Take a chance and buy one it's like you just won the lottery cause your back will thank you and your legs won't cramp up from the triangler seat cause you plat your feet much better on the ground...You will even want to put it in your living room and spin around for hours trying to make it squeek...
I have the Huntmore and like it. The swivel seat and adjustable legs are nice, but I find myself using my DB Magnum most of the time. With all the other stuff I carry, it's much lighter and easier to get around the woods with.
Since my 2009 post I have now switched from the Double Bull Magnum to the Waldrop Pac Seat for comfort and mobility. I hunt with a guille suit on public land well off the beaten path. The Waldrop Pac Seat is tough to beat on a all-day hunt in the out back.
I have had my huntmore for I think 3 years now and it is a great hunting chair no doubt. I have had it in the mud, wet, and cold it performs great. Only problem I have had is that the mice in my garage have eaten a nice big hole in the side of the carry bag :knothead: .
I do wish it was lighter than 10 pounds, because of that I will sometimes not take it. As for as being comfortable I have some nerve damage as a result of several surgeries and it is hard for me to set in any kind of chair, in fact most of the cheaper chairs I would not even consider, but I can sit in the huntmore for a long time and that is saying a lot. Just wish it was lighter.
My best spot is a mile and a half hike. It is more work getting to it with my Huntmore chair, however, because of the added comfort it is easier waking back, compared to my old stools and my Nifty seat.
Well the Millenium Tree Seat (M300) came in the mail and it is now fully set up, on a ridge with a slight incline overlooking a 10ft drop off on a well used deer trail. I put up two pieces of blind material for a back drop, locked the seat to the tree and threw a bike lock on it for anti-theft and cleared a 6 foot area of leaves for my feet.
This is one of several set ups that I have on this property, and I think it will prove fatal. Took 2 bucks last year within 25 yards of this spot..
As for the seat; it is lightweight, well-made, sturdy, and incredibly comfortable. Additionally, it is great for any incline or decline as you can easily level it out and put it as high or low to the ground as you like. For $69 and free shipping from LL Bean, this is hard to beat. I might buy 2 or 3 more.
