Made from a blank I got from my friend David. Its bamboo backed ipe 66 ntn 55# @ 28" holds 1 3/4" reflex which is what I started with so that's good    :)   Shoots nice and fast    :)   thanks for looking

Thanks a lot guys. David makes a great blank. tillering it out and adding overlays is the fun part to me.

That's a beauty Jesse. David builds a beautiful bow as well as his lay-ups...and they are all reasonably priced. The ones I've seen that others have finished have had to have very little tillering to complete. They are usually ready to brace when they come out of the form.
At the Tenn Classic this year, I believe David took one of his unworked glue-ups, cut string grooves in it and shot the course...and scored well!

That's one of the prettier bamboo/ipe bows I've seen.  Where can I look at the blanks?

Thanks again
Pat your right they are not much work depending on how far you want to go with making it look pretty   :)  I had it tapered and tillered to my poundage in a day and a couple more for the overlays and finish work.
SOS I'm sending you a private message.

That looks really nice. I am just trying to work through my first bow build, Bamb/Ipe. What stain did you use on that Ipe. I keep hearing about Deft Stain. It doesn't seem to be at my Home Depot so I am having to look around.

oo3sim By stain I assume you meant sealer? I used a stain on the bamboo but the the rest is the natural color. Deft lacquer will work but I dont like it. For me its to brittle and offers poor protection. I use wax free shellac spray just to seal the bow first and then several coats of spar urethane. water based spar is my favorite because it dries fast and has low odor. Also it wont amber over time like regular spar.On ipe you want something that dries very fast before the oils return to the surface after cleaning it with acetone. I have tried sealing them with just spar urethane and it can stay tacky for 3 weeks so I don't recommend it. Make sure the shellac you use is wax free so it can be top coated without adhesion problems. Also unless you want a big mess never spray deft lacquer over a bow sealed with poly. As for where to buy deft. Wallmart
