Like many people around here, I devoured Mike Mitten's book, One With the Wilderness. Mike has lived experiences many only dream about, and his dedication to his passion is unbelievable.
In one of the chapters of Mike's book he details some of the things he does to get in shape physically for the demanding hunts he loves. One of his workouts involves wearing his fully loaded backpack while mowing his lawn. What a great idea! I dislike working out just about as much as mowing lawn, so I thought combining the two would take care of two undesirable tasks at once. Brilliant!
I've just started my lawnmower workouts, and am already starting to feel the benefits! It's amazing!

I can already tell this is going to pay big dividends in September. Does anyone know if a lawnmower would be considered an ATV? ;)

Joe,
Very funny, but sadly true. Before I met Mike, I push mowed my 3/4 acre with an 80lb pack on. Now, when I really need it, I find myself rolling along just how you have pictured :(
That is too funny right there!! Joe you are my hero!!
Good one Joe.
Jack
That pack looks just right for a week in rugged backcountry. Plenty of space for a couple dozen doughnuts, a bottle of whiskey, and a carton of cigarettes. You might even fit a bucket of fried chicken in there.
And makes me wonder... Is it still "road hunting" if you do it from a lawn mower? :D
:clapper: :clapper: :clapper: Haven't had a laugh like that in a long time. Thanks.
Joe, Thanks fo the picture, it got my day started on the right track.

Thats funny right there! For me to get ready for bow season I just sit watching hunting videos with my feet in a bucket of ice water while I give my kids chocolate candy! That my friends is watching wild life for real. Then I go out and drive my lawn mower on the bank of my yard covered in plastic greased down, set the parking brake and tie a rope to it and then start pulling. When I can drag it back to the mower shed I'm ready for bow season!
Purposely avoided this thread for days. My bad. Double throw down funny!!!!
I like the way you think, Joe! You available for consultation?
LD
Joe, Your going to have to start selling that hat that holds the beer cans so that you sell that with a backpack for the total hunter workout system.
I tried doing it like Mike showed this morning just hiking down the road....
