Title: Tapered Carbons w/Dynamic Spine Calculator
Post by: 47pronghorn on August 05, 2009, 08:57:00 AM
I'm wanting to switch to an EFOC arrow and really like the AD Hammerhead shaft. How do you account for the taper and spine in the Dynamic Spine Calculator? Im shooting a 62" Bamboo Pronghorn 47# @ 28". My draw is 29.5". 25% FOC would be nice, any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks!

With the calulator you need a constant gpi. which you do not have on the Hammerhead because of the added carbon up front.  You have a wide range of wt that you can add up front.  With the 100grn brass insert you can use the brass wt system and stack the wts.  They come in wts of 60 and 20 grns.  I have had as much as 240grns up front without the point.

Yes they will be fine.  I draw 29 and have been shooting the Lites from my 47 and 53lb bows.  My arrows are 30".

thank you, what is your feeling on AD vs Beman MFX? Both just as tough?

Nothing wrong with the Beman's. I prefer a shaft with more diameter than the MFX's.
