I know the DNR has issued a shoot on sight order for feral hogs in Michigan so there are some actually loose. After a bit of research today I'm fairly certain I found pig tracks in Newaygo county. I'll post pics once I get the camera developed.
Only in a pig farm... :D
3 yrs. ago a guy shot a 300 pounder in north Oakland county, had trail cam pics. only report I've heard.
I have not actually seen any around where I hunt. But I have heard of people seeing sign around Newago. I was talking with a guy that lives up near Croton Dam and he said he was pretty sure he saw sign of them where he hunts. This was just a couple weeks ago I was talking to him. I dont doubt they are around just pretty scarce. Hopefully they stay that way!!
nothing wild, just "escapees" from local farms...
I've not seen any but I do have a map the DNR issued showing all the places they say there are feral pigs, so I guess there must be some.
Kill them before they tear up the place.
I have heard multiple reports from friends in the area that there are a lot of them in Cheboygan county (my hometown). I've never actually seen one though.
Several farmers have been pretty pissed about them.
Nope.
Haven't seen any in the U.P. Heard a few stories though ;)
Anybody actually seen pigs in Michigan.
check the local watering hole
(sorry, it was killing me to keep that one in...)
I know they are bad news, but some part of me kind of wants to have some around my area. My bow and smoker would love it.
Back in the early 70's there was a game ranch near Chelsea Michigan; and someone cut a hole in the fence and let out some russian boars and sows.
I remember because I was bird hunting and they ran off my dogs; and for a few minutes I stood real still..
Those things get big ! There were a bunch of piglets too.
I think all those got dead in short order; or were recaptured.
Wouldn't surprise me if someone let some pigs loose or some got away. But in Michigan- well its the home of 50,000 recipes for barbecue sauces; I doubt they will last long if they are there :)
Hey BobW! Ya beat me to it! :D
... mike ...
Have you been to a Homecoming Parade?
My brother married one.
I think the last post warrants a post in the prayers section cuz somebody needs one.

I know what you mean!
We have a picture of a Michigan wild hog taken with a Firefly bow on our site...but other than that I have no details. It's a nice one though, so they must be up there somewhere.

I undersand some Russian bores got loose around Walkerville 2 years ago. I hear the DNR wanted these hunted.
I have never seen one, or sign of one. I live in Shiawassee County, near the Clinton County border. I have heard that Clinton County had some, but never from a direct source (always someone talked to someone, who talked to someone who saw one). I agree with what was said earlier: they cause havoc, but part of me would sure like to hunt them.
Nope none seen around hear, to many Mt Lions :D
Yep, to many pig eating Mt Lions here in MI and as I understand it Big Foot eats a fair number of them too.
Hormoan: :notworthy:
I have never seen one or sign but there was one shot in the Greenville area a few years ago,,escaped from a hutning ranch,,rusian boar..
