Title: Tab question
Post by: wtpops on August 03, 2009, 12:44:00 AM
thinking about trying a tab. The gloves i have been getting just are not consistant form order to order.

through reading past posts i have learned that you need to trim them so they dont take your lip off  :saywhat:  I have tried one or two in the past and i dont like the finger through the elastic type, it always feels like the tab is going to fall off.

I have seen people use one that uses a solid plastic ring ( almost looks like an O ring but is plastic)that there finger goes through and is kind of a free floating ring ( not part of a plastic frame) They were able to flip the tap around to the back of there hand to get full use of there hand with out removing the tab, Does any body know what kind of tab this is (if you understand my discription)

Also i have seen a half glove half tab type of system, Has any body seen this type of rig

Not sure but I think the half glove and half tab that you are reffering to is made by back forty gear and called the ultra tab.Its got a spacer and a velcro attachment that goes around one finger and also a wrist strap that attached with velcro.

The cavalier elite tab attaches around the finger very securely with a diffent method than the elastic type and you may want to take a look at it.Both these stay tight to the hand and dont move around

The O riong one might be a saunders. Not sure though.I have aeen them but not used one.

The angel tab is nice as well and secures well.

Screaming Eagle tabs are one piece of cordovan leather with a hole in the end and a split for the nock. They work great, can be flipped out of the way as you mentioned, and wear like iron. Check with Grandpa in the classified section. That's where I got mine.

I use a Saunders FabTab. Sounds like you are describing. You can flip it around to the back of your hand and flip it back when needed. I really like them. Impervious to rain also.

You can flip just about all of them around to the back of your hand.  The Wilson tab is a very good on and less than $10.00.  I use them and a couple old Neet tabs that I've had for a few decades.

I've been a competitive fingers shooter since the early 60s (before there was a release)

Competitive shooters have always shot tabs instead of gloves - just a much cleaner release

For over 20 years I shot Hoyt Pro tabs (but Hoyt doesn't make a tab anymore) so I switched to shooting Bateman tabs.

But the other day I sent one of my old Hoyt tabs to Earle (Bateman) and he made me a knock-off Hoyt tab

I use a home made version of the Neat palm tab. I had to make my own for shooting three under. It does not go on your finger at all. I has a wrist strap. You can also where a light glove with it and still shoot well if practiced. You might look at something like that I know that black widow carries them.
