The nylon line will get you started but you'll be much happier with the fastflight bowfishing line. You might want to get a can of reel magic spray to treat the line too.   Drew

If you bought real Mason's line it would work, because its braided, not twisted. They also sell downrigger line, probably the same stuff, as it's braided nylon as well.

Geno,

I use an old Bear reel, which is probably the same principle as your shoot through reel, and I've found braided duck decoy cord to be the best (and cheapest and most durable).

Just make absolutely sure you don't have a tangle at the reel before shooting, because that stuff is not going to break--it will definitely return the arrow back at you if tangled when shooting.

I am a mason and by no means an expert bow fisher but I'm using braided line out of my tool bag and it works fine for my needs. As I said I only do a little bow fishing and don't want to lay a whole lot of $ out for a little fun.If you are going to do alot of bowfishing I would look into a better set up.
Good luck
