I just picked up a thunderstick III with no string. I didn't know it was not going to have a string so I am setting here with a bow I can't shoot and no idea on the string for it. :banghead: It is a 66" 48@28" I pull about 28-28.5" depending on the bow.
I have an e-mail in to Jim, but no reply yet.
What is the string length for this bow?
What is the brace height range on it?
What do you recommend for FF string type and strands? I don't want to go super skinny. Something quiet, strong, and low stretch.
And last question, where can I get one ASAP?
String length for longbows is approximately 3" less than the bow length marked on the handle. A^63" should be close. I would use a TS-1 string ~ 14 strand. Brace height 7" +/- to find the sweet spot. There are a couple good string makers in the sponsor list who can help you out.
You are going to like that bow. The III is Jim's long riser, long length bow. It will handle your long draw with ease and smooth manners.
I think all new bows should come with a string and a rest. Nice choice of bows though! Any more fishing this year Shaun?
It is not new just new to me.
I have a Thunderstick Mag and jim gives 18 strand TS-1 strings with his bows.I've tried others and strongly recomend staying with TS-1.His bows love TS-1.
Jim is sending me a string so I should be set soon.
