Went Bowfishing for Rays a couple weeks ago.
Thought I'd Post some pics. This was my first
trad kill, since I was a kid shootin squirrels
and such
We killed 5 all day, and spotted 23 or so.
I got 2, and Dennis shot 3.
We were with Rob Davis

nice catch!
i have shot alot of gar, a mullet, and two snakes with my bowfishing rig, but never a ray. looks like alot of fun.
Very cool...being a inlander not sure if this is a stupid question or not. Are the eatable?
Kentuckey TJ,
Actually they taste pretty good.
I cubed them, and rolled them in flower,
and old bay seasoning then fried them....
They weren't bad., but they taste better
cold the next day out of the fru=idge.
Nice Ray:-)
 Nice going...looks really neat.
Eric, do you realize who you were really fishing with?
Rob Davis is in the Maryland Bowhunters Hall of Fame. That guy has some serious "creds". He has done a ton for bowfishing, and archery in general in Maryland. Nice rays, but dang! I'd be honored to spend a day with Mr. Davis, and never even pick up a bow.
I hope you realize you were in the "presence of greatness".
Very nice they are a blast!!!

Jim,
Yep, I am very aware.
I already wrote an article
for Rub & Scrapes about it.
great day of bow fishing there.bd
Nice fish. Were you in OC?
Congrats Mr. Bonner on a good day out with Rob Davis. A friend from Delaware and my self have a date with Rob on the 21st. We are really looking forward to getting out there and get a line wet. Thanks for sharing and wetting out appetite.

Are those 2 different species or do the large ones lose the "pointy-ness" of their wings?
Wings are good on them, like has been said cude or cut into strips.

The Ray that Eric is holding is a Southern Ray which can get up over a 100Lbs. And the one that the other fellow is holding is a Cow Nose Ray, that can get up to about 60+Lbs or so.

If anyone close to me is interested, I want to do the same in DE next year. I live right on DE Bay and know a couple hot spots. None of my friends seem interested although that will change when they hear how fun it is. PM me.
